My NAS is getting an update because it sits in my living room and it's too damn loud. I've got an FX-6100 with a shitty cooler I had laying around and a Radeon HD 6790 with an Arctic cooler because the original cooler's fan died (cable got caught in it, it started making tons of noise a few days later and it stopped spinning after about a week). Gonna replace the CPU cooler with a CRYORIG H7 and the GPU with a passively cooled GT 710, and I'm getting rid of the LED monstrosities in the front of the case (Corsair 400R) and replacing them with Noctuas. Also replacing the rear fan and adding a 140mm on the side for the GPU.

i wish amd would have at least sold the wraith max 125 watt cooler separately. i really like it and would have gladly paid $40 for it if they did. even $50.

also been thinking of selling my 1080 for a 580 and picking up a freesync display to replace my gsync. i do game, but the games i play these days i really don't need the extra horse power and i hate knowing i'm limited to only nvidia gpu's with my gsync display. i know i would be limited to amd with freesync, but at least there its because of nvidia pooing all over open standards and not wanting to adopt adaptive sync.

anyone know of a good 1440p 144hz freesync? i don't care if its tn or ips.

Kinda cucked at the moment to 3.8ghz and 2400mhz ram because of poor bios, but that'll get better soon I hope with some updates :3

>>60324778
Is that a 290? I had the ref variant a few years back, and a friend had the sapphire one. Was some wierd comatability issue with my mobo then, so sold it.. Kinda miss it, great card.

I had a HD7970 on water that I flashed to a bios with open voltage control iirc, and overclocked it to almost 1400mhz core and 1900 mhz mem..
It actually performed as good as the 290 I had.

Bad news was the card drew over 450w under heavy loads and died after a few months..
Those vrm's sqealed pretty nicely XD

No oc ability I assume? Not that you whould need it, but the x5650 6cores are pretty cheap nowadays..

I had a EVGA SR-2 a few years ago, with two x5670 that I overclocked to 4.5ghz each.

Fucking insane setup, loads of fun oc'ing, but sold it because of the fucking heat, over 600w in cpu draw alone on 100% load.

>>
>>60330498
But can you change the bclk itself?

850w is plenty, yea.

Your cpu's is 45nm tho, if you get 32nm variants they will draw less power. You dont need to get 6cores, but they are dirt cheap.. search on ebay for e5649 (6core), or e5630 (quad)

seriously though, stick some small little heatsinks on those bad boys if you start dumping serious voltage. the board is more than likely pretty overbuilt even at stock but the heatsinks cant hurt and might be the difference in a 100mhz boost with more stable power
interested in getting that board, hows it treating you?

its just always so damn expensive, and availability aside for the price the trident ram always seems to outperform it, usually at a lower price. more often than not people with dominator ram have it for the looks, but very rarely you get the guy after performance, but then i always think the trident or others are a better value

The vrm's have heatsinks on this board, have a fan on the vcore vrms too (behind the reservoir)
On the old z97m anniversity I had thermal glued small sinks on the vrms, if thats what you're referring to..

I haven't measured the temp on the "coil bricks" themselves yet, but I don't think they get that hot really. Will do one of these days.

I actually bought vrm waterblocks for the the board thats on the way form a guy used. Not for this board specificly, so hope they fit. They have variable mounting, so I think they will :)

The AB350M Pro4 board is ok, its a bit picky for ram but that'll get fixed in future bios updates like on the rest of the AM4 platform.

The bios also lacks options for Loadline Calibration and Soc voltage adjustments, thats the main limitations for now oc wise.

Other than that I haven't found anything negative. Some have said there is a problem with the fan profiles in the bios aswell, don't use them so I'm not sure.
The board seems very stable, and no coilwhine from the vrm's.
Perfect pcie layout for me, and both m2 and m2 ultra slots + 4 sata3 ports.
It lack usb3.1 (I believe) but has loads of usb3 ports.

For the low price its a very good board, really. When (if) the LLC and Soc voltage options gets added later along with 3200mhz mem support, it will be an amazing matx board!

>i dislike - the fucking colors, the gpu cable over mobo cable, the mobo cable routed through the far right grommet. but you took pics and are posting those so no matter how much i say it they wont change
i have the cables routed like that for a reason. the motherboard cable underneath the gpu cables act's as support to help push the gpu cables up. allowing the gpu cables to pull up the gpu to prevent sag. if i had the gpu cables underneath, the motherboard power cable would push down on them which would result in the gpu cables pushing down on the gpu, helping create sag.

also, the reason why the motherboard cable is in the far right grommet instead of the left is because directly behind the left grommet is the hard drive cage. i couldn't fit the motherboard cable through the small hole behind the hard drive cage. i tried removing the cage but corsair in their wisdom put a giant slab of plastic that still covers more than half that grommet. i could barely shove the gpu cables through there.
>>
>>60332261
oh, and i agree with the colors. i would gladly change them if one:
>asus aurora software wasn't garbage.
nothing but problems with the crosshair atm with the aurora software. and two:
>asus in their infinite wisdom didn't bother to add rgb color control in the bios
no way to alter the rgb colors in the bios. only option is to turn them off or on. I asked elmor about it on the official crosshair vi hero overclock.net thread and he said its low priority.

on the bright side with elmors help, some guy on the overclock.net thread have been back porting aurora rgb support over to linux. so I might give it ago once a stable version is released.
>>
>>60331556
Trident at the time was the same price and ruined the color scheme, if I wanted to get it now I would buy the RGB version but even that is about 600mhz slower and they both have the same latency. being 600 mhz slower and also costing being within 20 dollars of eachother
wasn't a problem for me
>>
>>60332979
that makes sense since they didnt have the white/black ram 2 years ago right

The Trident kit came out about a week after I bought my Dominator. I probably wouldn't have bought it anyway because I have a serious problem with red and black/grey, hence why I never buy any classified cards.

Does anyone have the image of that one anons pc that he cooled with a car radiator and copper plumbing fittings? Iirc he used some form of adhesive to mount his makeshift cpu block that would have undoubtedly ripped his motherboard apart upon attempted removal.

The M4E was $80 new in the box. Sold a p8p67 pro in box for $67 after fees + shipping. Overkill but it should last forever. i7 3770 (again) soon then wait for next gen to retire it.

>single CPU and GPU
And another anon proves he is retarded and doesnt understand how to build a PC. I have dual Xeons, dual GTX 980s, 10GbE NIC, a RAID card which needs a PCIE power connector, 16x RDIMMs, 8x SSDs and 8x HDDs and it draws just over 900 watts. There is no way in hell your shitbox needs that big of a PSU.
