Whats the tech behind making fake coupons? im not looking to

It usually does, that's the point, then they key it by hand or whatever or just get a manager for override. (I guess you could use symbologies so it scans and then just doesn't come up in the system with the same end result)

Usually they have an original coupon and they copy it, the bar-code is the same on most coupons, so it is not like every coupon would need a unique code.

What's the process for making bar codes? Is it just the image that gets scanned is then decoded to numbers and then computer recognizes "'ritos coupon"? Or is it just hoping that the manager will key it in by hand and not care? I always wanted to try the "you won a xbox 360/ps3 with rewards!" meme back when it was around, but I haven't seen much of the fake coupons since.
