Generally works with current devices. That thing literally has AAC listed among supported formats, which generally means MP4 (which in turn uses .m4a as a common audio extension) as a container format, because you can't tag a raw AAC stream.
Only the cheapest chink MP3 players (often in stick form) just play MP3 and WMA and nothing else.
No, mp3 players only play mp3 files, in order to reproduce a m4a you'd need a m4a player
