Not in a significant way unless you let it eat massive overvoltage all day.
Oy vey, it will die after 20 years instead of 25, I bet that'll bother you so much in 2037.
>reliability
If it lasts half a day in Prime95, you'll be hard pressed to find a real life task that will make it crash.
Honestly, people who bought K series CPU and let them run at stock clocks are the biggest cucks in the industry.

Temperature decreases lifetime so dramatically we use logarithmic scales to fit it in a graph.
>Honestly, people who bought K series CPU and let them run at stock clocks are the biggest cucks in the industry.
Except they are not? K series have a higher base clock because they are cherry picked from the rest. It's basically cheating the silicone lottery. Doesn't mean you need to ruin them with a vulgar overclock.

Good thing I'm not autistic enough to care about things that have no real impact in real life.
Are you an audiophile, by the way?
>>60309280
Don't forget to create a custom loop like pic related, to prevent the cpu from killing itself and have to throw it into the trash because you can't RMA it since you invalidated the warranty by deliding it. But its no biggy because Intel is king and the extra 5 fps is totally worth it, right?
>>60309515

I'd like to push the ram a little more but bclk overclocking on Asrock boards is not very good right now.

Any FPS gain is a positive, the important factor is temperature for even more FPS. In the 20 years of computing I've never once had to return a CPU so warranty doesn't matter to me. Custom loops are for autists, AIOs good enough. Intel is top dog.
>>60309513
>Except they are not? K series have a higher base clock because they are cherry picked from the rest.
Look at the Turbo Boost specs. Unlocked Intel cpus have gimped turbo boost compared to the locked onea since Intel knows that most people will manually overclock it. If you buy a K sku and don't overclock you're wasting money.

You can always search for reviews of the board you find, but I whould think 3.6ghz is pretty much garuanteed for almost any board. If you find a good board and have decent cpu cooling, 4ghz may be reachable.

Don't sweat it, the 6 core 1366 xeons are fucking beastly @ 4ghz+. The 32 or 36 pcie lanes helps alot too if you want to run a soundcard, usb 3/3.1 controller, m2 ultra pcie ssd, etc as it won't steal your 16x lanes from your gpu. (if you put the cards in the correct slots)
The longevity of that platform is just ridiculous.
I actually regret selling my old r3e + x5650 setup, had fullcover water like you too.. Felt so badass with a 1.8ghz+ overclock. Will still be overpowered for fucking years to come.
Overclocking the ryzen, was not the adventure I was hoping for. (my fault for not researching properly in advance, was just so exited to get AMD again)
Except for 4 total x370 boards, there is no bclk overclocking, only multiplier. That takes alot of fun out of it for me personally..
The memory compability problems are extensive right now, but that'll get fixd sooner or later with bios updates.
The only reason you whould have to switch over to am4 (other than just to try something new), is if you need 8cores (or more in the future).. Single thread performance I whould say is about the same as your xeon overclocked..
Atleast wait a couple years, until zen has matured. I'm guessing overclocking potential by then will have increased alot too.

Is that the most you get stable? What mobo/cooling are you using?
My first thought was that your memory or the HT link is holding you back, try lowering the HT multiplier and setting your memory a notch lower in the bios.. Then try for higher cpu overclock.
>>60321233
That is for socket 1366.. you could overclock any cpu back then.
The 1156/1366 platforms was the last that you could overclock via BCLK. And you could do it on any chipset.
So you could buy an i3, i5, i7, Pentium or Xeon and overclock it to hell and back, even on a H55 chipset.
From sandy bridge (1155/2011) and on, they locked the BCLK to 100mhz across all chipsets, so If you wanted to overclock, you'd have to buy a "K" model cpu and a "Z" model chipset motherboard, and do it via multiplier only.
Fuck the jews.
