I got it as a gift. I thought the same way as you before I got it. It is way more convenient to check the time and the date from your wrist.

I don't want to take my phone out of my pocket and potentially put it down on a random table/surface as I'm moving around, never to be seen again.

I'd rather have a expensive watch than have an expensive phone.

You'll know when you grow up one day.

Watch is like men's jewelry. It is a fashion acessory, waterproof, saphire glass, shines on the dark, stainless steel, shock resistant, laser cut, and also, shows you the time, right at least twice a day.

i have only ONE valid reason

Because I'm forbidden from bringing any devices capable of communication, recording or data storage to work.
Also because it's retarded to have to pull your phone out every time you need to check the time, and retards who do it are usually the ones with cracked screens or straight out broken phones every year or so.
>>
Because checking my watch is about 8 times faster than checking my phone. And I check my watch way too often.
>>
>>60292336
Because a Watch won't overheat or lose all battery after 16 hours.

Having finally got a watch, here are the reasons OP:

1. My watch is always on my wrist. I can't really misplace it or lose it
2. I can have things in my hands and still check the time
3. I can't accidentally drop my watch
>>
1. A watch looks good, it is mainly a fashion accessory. Bracelets are gay, so I wear a watch instead.
2. My phone is usually in my pocket. glancing at a watch is a lot less effort and I can do it while I am using my hands to do something unrelated.
3. Having multiple ways to tell time is neat.
4. A watch doesn't need to be recharged.

It'll be an heirloom some day. A god phone dies after a couple of years. A good watch will die after a couple of centuries.

Some phones have the option to always display the time, the numbers on the screen are really faint to prevent massive battery drain.
>>
Most employers do not allow cell phones to be on an employee's person.

Apple call center agents, for example, are subject to supervisors walking around with cell sniffers looking for phones on the call floor. If an employee is found with a phone, they are escorted out of the building and promptly fired.

If you have any remotely serious job, the only acceptable thing is a glance at your watch.

Can you answer my question though? How is one company's policy relevant to knowing if most employers do something?
>>
I'm a school teacher. I need to see the time a lot of different times in the day. If i give children five minutes to do a task i need a quick way to see the time without getting my phone out (which is generally not allowed in school anyway)

I like the style. It's a good accessory.

Taking my phone out is a pain in the arse anyway. I try not to obsessively check my notifications during the day.
>>
>>60294516

>>60294621
If you can't figure that out and get upset and ask someone you aren't actually asking a question.

Passwords aren't always needed. Plenty of ways to securely keep it unlocked when in your possession. Sliding/opening your phone is one action, pocket dialing is a synonym for whatever the fuck you want that you don't want to happen by accident on your smartphone. Two basically random actions, doesn't require a smart pocket.

Trust me, the opposite is a lot worse: Employers that require you / expect you to have a (work issued) smartphone on you at all times.

I can honestly say that the job I had as a gas station attendant when I was young was the best job I've ever had. Not much work, day flied by like nothing and most importantly, I went there, I hung around the cash registry and then I left everything even remotely job-related in the locker and went home. No e-mails to answer, no calls with questions, no working late night at home because some stupid job-related thing "has" to be done.
>>
>>60295746
it's easier to keep of the second hand than digital seconds for some reason. not so useful in hospital settings because pulse is monitored by machines, it's more useful for field medicine and occupational first aid
>>
>>60292336
Try checking time with dirty hands
Try checking time in heavy rain
Try checking time with bags/tool in your hands
Try checking time in the swimming pool at the beach while in water
Try checking time while running
Try checking time doing any demanding or dangerous work

If you do nothing or have a desk job maybe it doesn't matter. For the rest of us watches are better than phones for checking time
