I use a sandboxed firefox. I also have some privacy centric firefox addons (HTTPS everywhere, ublock origin, noscript, privacy badger)
I use Firejail as my sandboxing program, and I give it access to my Downloads folder and my Pictures folder, but nothing else.
It's only a bit tedious to do the initial set up. I've been using it for 2 weeks now and it hasn't gotten in my way

I consider surf to be more secure than the average browser just given that to add a feature it must be recompiled. There aren't any chances for shady plugins or things taking advantage of some strange outdated toolbar
