Anyone done this before? I have a locked i5 sandy bridge i want to undervolt and underclock can this be done?
ideally running at 1.9GHz at the lowest possible voltage
Just a quick update.
Went from 50W to 30W running at 1.9GHz @ 0.888V is it safe to try and drop it to 0.6V?
its probably possible to disable cores too if you dont need them
i'm getting some weird rounding error problem on prime95.
Ill try disabling the 2 cores.
seems stable with 2cores gonna try dropping the voltage a little more
Why are you doing this? What do you use this computer for?

Plan on running it 24/7 as a server. Using the Intel GPU but not the CPU.
Using 46.5W at full load
28W idle on 0.872V cant seem to get it any lower than that.
I guess that will do

tried manual voltage, no eist or turbo, c1e only enabled?

Sell it and buy a raspberry, unless you need x86, then there's good amd soc apus.

Interesting, getting a 3550 for 24/7 soon, does anyone know how much the power draw decreases?
>>60281476
This would be retarded, I would rather sell it and get a two-core CPU.
>>60281610
Maybe think of a T Pentium or Celeron if you don't need much performance.

>would rather sell it and get a two-core CPU.
Why, with turbo boost and cores disabled there should be no difference.
>>60282724
Because i5s are worth more. You can probably sell this one and get a low TDP Celeron and 30 € from it.
>>60282748
Seems like an hassle, plus you can always uncripple it if you find out you need more power.

What are you planning to run on it? Running two or even one core would be the best solution to save power.
Why can't i just limit the clocks to say 133mhz and turn it into a pentium 1?
