Stop blocking ads, only millennials block ads
>>
>>60260701
Stop posting this stupid image every fucking day. Fucking Mongoloid.
>>
But I am a millenial.
>>
Tfw gen x and block ads.

there's nothing wrong with millennials, they do the right things.
>>
>>60260701
how about we stop misleading and agressive marketing?
>>
>>60260701
Stop talking like a retard
>>
"Millennials" are people born between 1981 and 1999. I think that's pretty much all of us.
>>
Consumers should do the same thing they do.
How do we stop companies aiming to market to adblockers from planning constructively?
>>
damn I've been blocking ads for like 10 years now.
>>
>>60260701
In glorious 2017 people still watch tv, this is truly the most depressing thing on that pic
>>
>>60260701
I cannot see a compelling reason to not block ads.

Ads add nothing to the internet browsing experience. Some make the argument that without ads, nobody could pay for sites on the internet.

I would make the counter argument that most content on the internet I consume is not worth paying for, and if it were gone I would be a better person for it. If everything were a subscription service and could not subsist on ads, that would entirely kill social media.
>>
>>60261063
The vast majority of websites that rely on ad revenue could not survive on subscription-based models. That's why they will never do anything other than complain about ad blocking and try to shove more and more nefarious ads at people.

There might be a few YouTube personalities that you like to watch occasionally. Would you pay to watch them? Probably not.
>>
>>60260701
It makes no difference, I'll keep blocking ads.
>>
Gas all advertisers
>>
>>60260902
Actually that's false.

Millenials start at 1982-1995 and then Gen Z start.
>>
>>60260701
>stop blocking ads
>every webiste now takes 1 minute to load
>>
>>60261111
And I'm saying that if all of that suddenly disappeared I would be fine because premium content would still exist and is primarily what I consume.

>Netflix is ad free and subscription based if we ignore me torrenting shit
>I pay for video games I play
>I pay for things when I leave the home

So what I'm misisng out on now are Youtube, twitch, and twitter (social media in general)

I don't need twitch or Youtube and barely use social media. How would this be bad?
>>
>>60261206
I'm not saying that it would be bad, just that most websites (think shitty blogs) will never switch to subscription models because they know they wouldn't be able to survive on subscriptions.
>>
>>60260701
>Boomers spend 24 hours a week watching TV
God damn, when are they just going to die. How dead inside do you need to be to spend 1/7th of your life watching Hawaii Five-O and Duck Dynasty.

I have always blocked ads but I have never told anyone else about adblock, we need the people who don't block ads for ad blocking to remain an easy thing.

>>

The only time it's remotely annoying is watching YouTube in the browser. Downloading the video or casting it to TV generally fixes that.
>>
Ad blocking stats from 2015. They're likely even further fucked today.
>>
>>60261825
It doesn't work that way.

How it works is, you pay a free AND you have to watch ads. Companies have always double (or even triple) dipped like this and the future will be no different.

>inb4 Netflix

They are the exception, not the rule.
>>

>>

>>
>>60260701

>>
>>60260701
>it's 2017
>ads on the internet ads are still unregulated and people can make ads that significantly slow down pages, fake virus alerts and pop-ups that link to malicious websites without any repercussions

Until this changes I can't see many people getting rid of ad blocking software.
>>
>>60260701
I refuse to support this industry. I don't care how many people lose their jobs over this.
Sell your products the old fashioned way, or find a more professional and less obnoxious way to show me your product exists.

Provide a website service for free and unfettered on your own costs and time or have people buy premium registration to use it if you need it funded.
I refuse to allow a world to shout at me from ten thousand obstructive 300x200px boxes with flashing lights and paywall hoops stopping me from my content.

Facebook started as a free service. It had to rely on advertising because the weight of its popularity caught up with running costs. Many "once grassroots" services land in this situation are forced to either be supported by advertising or subscription. 4chan is no different.

>>60261206
Netflix is a good example of successful inexpensive legal on-demand television media. Either you have it or you don't.

>>60261063
>I would make the counter argument that most content on the internet I consume is not worth paying for, and if it were gone I would be a better person for it. If everything were a subscription service and could not subsist on ads, that would entirely kill social media.
Fucking this. The reason a lot of crappy content out there even exists is because platforms exist allowing subpar content to be published. These platforms would exist if it weren't for advertising keeping them afloat their server costs.

You know whats actually funny? An adblocker is nothing more than a script detector and disabler.

So the very scripts on the page able to see if you are using an adblocker, are by design able to be blocked themselves from loading before they can block your content from loading.
It requires a bit of legwork, but you can eventually find the incriminating scripts and disable them for all future visits to the same site.
>>
>>60266922
None of the sites that outright block you for using adblock are worth visiting.

Originally the term Millennial was applied to people born after 2000. Born this millennium. However once marketing faggots get their hands on a something it quickly ceases to make much sense. And so now the term Millennial is just another stupid buzz word that doesn't mean anything.
>>
>>60264695
Gen Z is post 2000.
Millenials are 1980-1999.
>>

If ads weren't intrusive I wouldn't be so quick to block them. I don't want ads with sound that can't be muted, ones that eat up half or more of my screen real estate, ads with malware, none of that bullshit. Until then, adblock and noscript are here to stay.

Not that any of it matters though. My purchasing habits barely ever change because of what's been advertised to me. Don't care about whatever crap is advertised on tv, billboards, etc. I'll only consider buying something I don't normally get if
1) it's on sale or at a discounted price and,
2) I've heard good things about it from either my family, friends, and/or you fuckers who seem genuine and not shills (very rare)
Isn't it generally agreed that millennials/gen z are less likely to purchase things on a whim because a good portion of them are poor? Hell, gen z is still in or just graduated high school, correct? You can't expect them to have much money. Half of the millennials are either in college or graduated some years ago, you can't expect them (who have mostly all taken out loans for school) to have a lot left over either. Although they already are, these companies need to focus on gen x. They tend to be more settled with money and have bad spending habits.
>>
>>60267700
Put the split at 1995 and i'd agree.

Internet really popularised in post 2005 with Web 2.0, youtube and social media etc. I honestly dont know why this era is ignored. There is so much written on the internet going 'mainstream' that talks about the 1999-2001 period, but not so much of the mid 2000s.
>>
>>60268148

look it up mongoloid
>>
>>60268594
I dont think its so much about computers that seperates GenY and Z. You could have been constantly around computers since the late 70s if your family were in to that shit. The thing that really changes was the internet and the ways in which we interact with and use it.
>>
>>60269157

I dont care and I couldn't care less for sites that dont curate ads properly. The thing is, they ruined it for themselves and they have no one else to blame. It's just like door to door salesmen or telemarketers, almost anything they have to say to you has no benefit and most are just out there to scam you. Blocking ads is no different from ignoring the door or phone from salesmen. One upon a time they might have been fine folk trying to sell good products but they ruined the market for themselves. So did the same happen for internet ads.

The online ad-industry is ass-backward as fuck thanks to tech-illiterates who click on "Single dad makes $200/hour using this simple toaster trick" pop-ups. I'm not saying it should be regulated, but due to the lack of standards, 9/11 ads are useless, intrusive or are blatant scams. This means that most people have absolutely no faith in finding something worth their while in them.
