If you have your metadata NFOs all set up for a bunch of local content on a HDD for Kodi through a TV, does the RAM and processor of the device Kodi is running through (an Android TV, a Fire Stick, a Pi, whatever) factor in at all? If you have all those NFOs on the HDD, does the main device try to pull them all at once or something and you need more RAM or something to deal with that?

99% of the addons look like botnets. they also mostly have terrible video quality and like half the channels are down or ask you to visit a website

The addons are shit. But who cares, if you actually use it like a HTPC it's great (and is pretty much the only alternative now that Plex went full jew)
Just use Plex, if your country is so shitty with file-sharing then just move out.
