UHD automatically BTFOs 21:9 though since the highest resolution sold is 3440x1440, which is pretty much vertically cropped UHD.

3440x1440 in theory could yield high panel refresh rate than UHD, but LCD response times honestly aren't good enough for it to matter. UHD@120/144 Hz displays coming out this summer will be the reigning champs for the next several years.

I actually prefer the physical size to resolution. So I'd take a bigger 21:9 even if it had lower resolution. I mean, it's the physical size that makes the screen estate. Resolution only makes the image sharper since you can't read ant letters anyway.

More precisely, I'd first set the height that is comfortable for me (as we are more limited in vertical motion), then go as wide as I can (a little above 90 degrees being the limit), and then look for the best dpi.
