Which one? The ones of the left look like VGA ports, the right looks like an old printer port.

seriously serial was the USB of the early 90's

>video port
If you count connecting a terminal via serial as "video", sure.

You could "network" two computers via a null-modem (crossover serial basically) cable back when LAN cards were expensive and almost no home user had them (to get on the internet, if at all, a modem was used, connecting to... yea, a serial port).
>>60224366
Kinda, yea, except for printers which were mostly connected to the LPT (parallel) port.

yes those but so much more
No seriously serial did all that far before paraell ports did for example the CDROm's of old where ether internal or paraell port same as those chuncky 5'1/3" inch floppy drives
Its just that paraell port or LPT became the standard for printers and scanners (yes at one point they wren't the same thing)
serial was fading away was just some port to plug mouse and keyboard into no body cared about serial dot maxtix printers because it was really old by then.
Dispite people still using them at that time because of check out counters and offices in small bisinesses and so forth.
In fact its still used as checkout counter stuff.
You can be surprised just how many things you can connect to serial port.
the diffence is that you can't use a hub on serail all that effectively and its slow as shit.
>>60224366
That would have been parallel
Thanks for the help
>>60224215
>video port
That's not a videoport, that's a parallel port.
Fucking millennials.

This

those are collectively a Facebook port. in the old days you needed all three cables connected simultaneously to use the service.
