Does anyone else feel like the governments have ruined the internet. I remember in like 2005 the internet was a lot of fun but now it feels lame. There is an account for everything and the government spies on you and there are noobs everywhere.

I've come up with a proposed name for the project:
SPONKNET
Supreme
Proxy
Obfuscated
Net
Kentledge
NETWORK

I really think we should just build an 'internet2' so to speak. We could start an indiegogo campaign to buy a couple of servers to start and use a tor-like technology to allow users to dial into sponknet until we get the resources to build infrastructure.

It would be relatively easy to write a python script to scrape internet 1.0 on a second server for pages on a daily basis statically - If there are dynamic elements we could just redirect users to the 1.0 site with a warning that the government might be watching.

Thoughts?

If there is interest I think I can try to spin up a Git Hub repository for some coding

maybe scraping the internet once a day is too much... once a week?

I'll get started on the logo

any progress? should we create a Sub-Reddit for this?

the porn was a lot better for sure

Was it the gov or apple for pushing internet to the mainstream fags ?

To Be Honest I Think it Was GOOGLE
>>
This is just usenet
>>
>>60223079
what is that?

Nowdays all the Internet pages look the same. Everyone uses WordPress, Joomla for pages that would've been fine with a simple HTML construct. Everyone rocks one of the free bootstrap themes.

If I see one more bootstrap page I puke.

not much we can do about this

I don't know about governments but I feel pretty much the same about big-data.

The ultimate cause I think is that they found ways to make money and they did what all businesses do, they milk the fuck out of that destroying anything they need to in their wake.

Big-data basically gamed the internet to become a place where it's weird to not trust what you read. Where everything requires serious personal judgement (e.g. likes, upboates, +1's, shares)
and where it's normal (or even required) to use your real data online.

So I don't really think your idea is headed in the right direction OP, although you're hearts in the right place.
Security issues are only incidental. Our _cultural_ issues are cultural.

In my opinion what is needed to fix the culture is to create a counter-culture to all the things big-data represents.
You need a place that is extremely against not just personal identity, but also able to detox people from their habit to fucking vote on everything and retrain them to ignore stuff.

Could be, because the cheap accessible phones as opposed to a more expensive apple phones ?

I'm not sure anymore mah man, all i know is 2007 shit hits the the fan in the internet room so hard it took out a few blocks. 4chan was still okay until 2005/2006ish.
>>
>>60223188
so can we create a counter-culture the same way Russia influenced the election?
>>
>>60223188
>(e.g. likes, upboates, +1's, shares)

This is one of the reasons everything is bad now.
Unpopular opinions = wrong opinion
Before then forums we have mutual respect towards each others view like it or not. Now it's just shitposting day to night in hope the other gives up and admit loss.
>>
>>60222662
And how do you keep the normies out of this supposed network?
>>
>>60222662
All communication becomes a commodity eventually. Newspapers, radio, TV, cable TV and now the internet.

It was bound to happen eventually, you can't stop it. All you can do is wait for the next great method of communication to come around after the government and big business has finished ruining this one. It too will be great and new for a few years, but the cycle will continue.

For the record if you're going to build an "internet 2" you don't need to waste time and resources on shit like tor and "decentralized" shit

All you have to do is create anonymous ISP's.

Governments know that too because the US put a lot of pressure on Sweden to shut down an anonymous ISP that was going to launch. ISP level tracking is their ace-in-the-hole.
Make an anonymous ISP and the sky is the limit.

Reddit is a mistake
>>
>>60223331
>Reddit is a mistake

One thing leads to another, yeah it's a big one.

Now the old forums i used to go implements the same shit as reddit with their up/down voting.

Say example someone comes in saying their PC got fucked with virus or issue. Some guy posted "Format PC" instantly gets good boy votes and the reply "Run virus scan etc etc without loosing data" gets voted down.

Shit gets worse from there, from technical to social to political correctness.
>>
>>60223311

That get. This comment. So truthful.
>>
>>60223373
Exactly. Was there even any website before reddit that laid such a focus on up votes for comments?
>>
>>60225295
its actually so toxic because it takes away any semblance of discussion that could happen on these sites but get drowned out by the autistic maymays and other garbage that gets shot to the top
really sad it's so common now honestly
>>
>>60222662
Yes, 2005 was a great year. My personal favorite time period was from 2004-2010. It's been a steady decline since then. Now in my late 20s I don't really feel the need for a 'new' internet or any other derivative. I'm simply relying less and less on it as a way to waste time. What's interesting is my parents and other old people are now addicted to this current version of the internet and I'm the one slowly walking away from it.

The only alternative that would be interesting is this: >>60223311

But I don't see it happening, at least not any time soon.
