I've been torrenting all of my shit on the free version of bittorrent for a couple years now mostly without issue. The ads are a little annoying but I just mute it on the volume mixer and it's good to go. I always see people on here saying to drop utorrent or bittorrent and get a real torrent client (qbittorrent, etc)
Which is the best? Why is bittorrent considered bad exactly?

I can vouch for Deluge, and I've heard good things about Transmission.

just go with qBittorrent it has its own search engine and it doesn't stall (atleast not for me)

Also using deluge. Tribler was good but it never connects for me now and I haven't got the patience to fix it.

Only problem I have with Deluge is Magnet links don't open by default.
Ktorrent and Transmission are still my top.

Is love to switch from utorrent but it stalls all the time for me. Plus, I couldn't find a way for qbit. to not create a fucking folder for every damn file I torrent

The website download was hacked a few times. If you install it using a package manager there is no issue. See: https://transmissionbt.com/keydnap_qa/
Although the transmission author has been really oddly quiet about how the hacks happened.
