Does anyone know what year this imac is and what it's missing? Besides the screen and hard drive
I'm moving out of an apartment and I found it in the dumpster for my building, I just want the case so I don't care if doesn't work but if anyone knows that'd be awesome I've been looking at Google for awhile
Here's the back, someone painted over the serial number so I assume it was probably a fleet machine or something?
Looks like 2009-2011-ish
It doesn't seem to be missing anything. My guess is that the previous owner wanted to upgrade hard drive or RAM, took of the screen as seen on iFixit, broke it, panicked, removed hard drive because porn, threw it away.

Mimi is fucking up, so I can't view the whole picture now.
The silver imac started with the core2 duo, and I think this is one of those. These have a dedicated graphics card that likes to cook itself in that case. It could be missing. Not sure.

Clean the lense of your potato man. Those blue ports make it too new to be core 2duo, so it's from after Intel switched to the i naming ( i3/i5/i7). I've never dissected one of those, so not sure now.

They're not blue Sorry, none of the ports are blue
I have a moto Z but I guess I didn't let it focus enough

C2D iMac's had "iMac" etched onto the back and not the Apple logo, 2008 iMacs had a black plastic back, 2012 and onwards iMacs had no optical drive and those slim edges. So it's definitely between late 2009 and 2011.

Definitely 2009-2010 era because the 2011 27" models have three antennas for their Airport/ Wireless Card and your one only has two.
Also 2008 and older iMac models had a black plastic back where the 2009 and onwards went for full Aluminium bodies.
2011 model was the first to have Thunderbolt and your one from the poor photo seems to have the Mini DisplayPort logo for the rear ports so your iMac is definitely not 2011.
Also the serial number is under the base of the Stand (not on the body or Rear Housing where paint is present) which you should be able us on Apple's warranty coverage page to identify the exact model.
Might be able to get a LCD panel second hand only and the glass is likely to be identical to the one still supplied for the 2011 27" model iMacs.
You might need to check if your model of iMac needs a special sensor for a non-Apple Hard Drive.
Also it is common practices for businesses to destroy hard drives physically (as oppose to a secure erase) to ensure sensitive data isn't leaked.
Beaware of the Power Supply and Back-Light board at the top-left area as if live they could give you a bad electric shock (lethal or bad injuries) and they can hold charge for an hour after being disconnected from the mains.

My last advise from >>60200458, the LCD and the Back-Light board at the very top left area are usually paired and if you order an LCD you would ideally want it to come with the Back-Light board which supports that LCD otherwise the LCD might not work (usually won't output a back-light and just video only, component failure could occur but not sure though).
Bracket fixtures (and screws) are missing for the hard drive so those would be needed.
You should fit a 3.5" HDD and not a 2.5" HDD or SSD (unless you want to use further bay adapters which can be done, don't forget to check if you need a special thermal sensor for the HDD for that model of iMac).

Thanks for all the advice, I just assumed it was probably just completely dead so I wasn't even thinking about trying to use it
Do you know if I would be able to just try to do diagnostics on it by plugging it into another monitor? Just to see if it works at all. I don't have a mini display port adapter so I would buy one and just return it if it wasn't helpful

>Do you know if I would be able to just try to do diagnostics on it by plugging it into another monitor?
That is possible and only with a Mini DisplayPort adapter for the external as that is the only Display output port on the iMac.

OK sweet i was wondering if it would recognize it at all without actually getting into the system, but if that's the case then it might be something to try out when I have time
Thanks for the help I'll try not to shock myself
