Worth it?

Those low end Lenovo "ideapad" laptops have abysmal display panels. Something like 40% sRGB and 200:1 contrast. Just piteous.

I had an ideapad as my first personal computer. They decided to make it screech like a demon when it's at low battery by default, that was fun. Build quality was meh and I had overheating issues.

Not werth it in my opinion. It greatly depends on the ideapad but consider this: I have an ideapad G 50-30 with a celeron N2840 and 8GiB RAM (had 4 initially) and 1TB HDD and with this config i paid 250 euros (inb4 europoor) without windows (but i used win 10 edu from uni). A few days ago i scored a thiknpud L412 with i5 540m (no hdd no ram no power supply) for 16 buckaroos on ebay and with shipping i paid 64 euros total (from murica). The difference in speed in the quality of the screen cant make up for the difference of buying something new.

Its not a bad deal but what do you expect from a laptop from this range. For example i have a "gaymur" desktop (i5 4570+r9 280) so i am not going to play serious games on the thikpud. if you want to play gaymes it's another story then.

gpu wasn't necessary, but it was cheaper than the ones with igp, why not.

I'll never buy a Lenovo (excluding thinkpads) without seeing it in person.

If you care more for the performance/price ratio then i would go for it. But you have to keep in mind the tradeoffs: terrible display, mediocre build quality (if you keep care of your stuff you wont have a problem).
