Holy shit, you can't make this up. ASUS router sends your packets to a third party.

>ASUSWRT comes with some advanced network management and traffic shaping tools that can be surprisingly useful even in a regular household with just a couple of devices. Devices and known network services can be prioritized using the Quality-of-Service service to ensure a Chromecast or other streaming device has network priority over over devices. Time scheduling let you set which hours and days of a week a given device is allowed to connect to the internet.

>There is, however, a catch in using these services. ASUSWRT will collect and transmit data about which websites you visit to Trend Micro

>[…] “Trend Micro reserves the title, ownership and all rights and interests to any intellectual property or work product resulting from its use and analysis of Forwarded Data.”

ANUS fanbois on a suicide watch.

ain't that shit illegal?

>ain't that shit illegal?
you agree to it through EULA
>>
>not using pfsense

You normalfags deserve every piece of spyware you get.
>>
>>60192441
This thing looks like it's about to snipe your ACU.
>>
If this is the case I would already be in jail.
>>
>>60192441
And this is one reason to use third party firmware
>>
>>60192441
well that's nice sweety, but we all use asus-merlin or some other 3rd party firmware here.
>>
>>60192814
This. You can't use these services without agreeing to these terms.
>>
>blocks your path
>>
>>60192441
they came from router space

Jesus christ

This is never going to end, will it. The companies in control have seen this as the new normal, and the masses just accept it.

Face it. You are now a MONEY MAKING MACHINE. You have no say in it. No choice. Your Thinkpad from 1995 is eventually going to die.

Unfucking believable.
>>
>>60192441
linksys + opnwrt
atleast you can block the hardware backdoor with a guaranted backdoor-free OS
>>
>not using pfsense

I thought this was the tech board not normalfag board
>>
>>60192441
This only happens when you use their QoS options

But Netgear has always been better anyway, don't buy Asus.

>>60193831
Or dd-wrt/openwrt

underrated

might only be new to me, but I chuckled

>Your Thinkpad from 1995 is eventually going to die.

well if you replace every part with third party stuff, then is it the same thinkpad?
>>
>>60192441
Does people really buy this kind of shit when you can just get a regular router and flash openwrt on it?
>>
>>60194063
>it the same thinkpad?
No.
>>
>>60194144
this is the ship of theseus problem
i'd like to hear your argument
>>
>>60194161
Not him, but my own standard is by motherboard, since I don't buy a motherboard without also buying a cpu.
>>
>>60193831
>>not using pfsense
what AP works with pfsense?
>>
>>60192441
they literally sold your trap fetish to a third party
how does it feel?
>>
>>60192441
Couldn't you just strip that shit out and install DD-WRT on the router and have it not be a problem?
>>
>>60194161
>replace every part with third party stuff
I can't explain this with other words, all the parts are different so it's a different laptop.
>>
>>60195299
You don't use an AP with pfsense installed on it instead you attach an access point to any PC that is running pfsense.
pfsense can be installed on any x86 hardware with 2 or more Ethernet ports 1 port is used for WAN (modem) and the others are for LAN devices like other PCs, Ethernet switches, access points, etc

EULAs are inadmissible in court.
>>
>>60195919
>EULAs are inadmissible in court.
you're a moron. even the supreme court ruled on admissibility and validity of EULAs and click to agree licenses.
>>
>>60195801
If you can install dd-wrt on it, then yes, problem solved.

>>60192441

The fuck do I care? I don't know how that shit works in the US but in the EU the EULA does not override jack shit.

I can explicitly sign a document saying I agree with Trend Micro spying on me through an ASUS router. If that shit is illegal in my country I can still sue them.
