That said though, it doesn't really matter that much if they're going to be doing babby CS stuff. I was forced to learn it in C at my uni and you spend more time dealing with memory and pointers then you do actually doing basic CS intro shit (data structures, algorithms etc)

JavaScript is incredibly easy to pick up if you know one of the C syntax languages. What jobs want to see, on top of real programming experience, is frameworks like react, redux, angular, backbone, etc.
