look, if an old woman with a gun says "gooey interface" I'm not going to correct her. She's clearly unstable and I don't much feel like being shot again.

Great job.
I have to ask, if not gooey interface what would you say to convey gui interface
>ess sea ess eye interface
>website in raw hitmel

>hard drive disc

it has been my experience that almost nobody says 'gooey interface', and the few that do need to convey it say either "gooey" or "interface"

This reasoning makes no sense. The pronunciation of an acronym does not rely upon the pronunciation of its parts. When we say SCUBA we pronounce it "scooba", yet we do not say "oonderwater".
The creator of the format dubbed it "jif", and "jif" was used for many years by the technical community. Only when tumblr popularized the filetype with the mainstream did the hard G pronunciation come about. And now uneducated Normies tout their ignorance as some sort of badge of honor

Only Americans spreg out over the pronunciation of acronyms.
In the rest of the world we just pronounce them whichever way we like, they aren't real words so there are no "wrong" or "correct" pronunciations.

>Only when tumblr popularized the filetype with the mainstream did the hard G pronunciation come about
people were calling it gif for 10 years before tumblr even existed newfag
