I am going to build #2 for the next couple of months. I have a plasma engine idea which might work, but it's just a hobby so who cares.
I am trying to find out the relationship between the poles, the bell, and the armor. I'm thinking that the bell is what is providing the lift presumably because of the pendulum effect; the object should be able to support itself without tipping over. I'm not really concerned about anything outside the center frame box.
