I have a bunch of hard drives from obsolete laptops.
What is the most efficient way of putting them into some kind of external housing and having them attacking to my main computer through some kind of way.
What am I looking for?
The expense of the case, connections, controllers, etc. to do that would be more than just buying a big new hatd drive.

why do you hate your main computer so much that you want to attack it
what did it ever do to you?
How many are we talking? If you don't mind labelling them and hotswapping: https://www.amazon.com/iDsonix-2-5-Inch-3-5-Inch-Docking-IDD-U3201-1/dp/B00L3W0F40/ref=sr_1_21?ie=UTF8&qid=1493703129&sr=8-21&keywords=hard+drive+hot+swap+bay
I like Barq's to OP.

Bump. This is the best option. Own one myself and I swap out multiple drives various photo backup or misc data.
if you have powered esata ports on your mobo you can just get some of these

Or if you want to put them inside it just get 3.5 to 2.5 adapters. you can fit 2 2.5 drives in a 3.5 bay.
