I had to think long and hard before I upgraded from my C2D E7600. An upgrade to a Q9550 would've made more sense to me, but I ended up with an i5 anyways just because I wanted something new. Most of what I do with my computer works well with older CPUs, and what doesn't I can live without.

Later I also bought a Pentium G3450 for my server. That too is more than fast enough I feel.

If I were to try to make that same video using an i3 instead of my i7 not only would it take way fucking longer to get it rendered and finished, but the i3 would probably hit high as fuck temperatures just from having the editor open.

Trabants are known for overheating if you don't remove the hood, instantly voiding warranty. Their motors can be quite strong but do not have many cylinders removing any possibility of undertaking heavy loads in any reasonable manor.
One other problem widely overlooked is performance modding. Less cylinders will rev high, but these are actually limited by valve bounce, often causing a stuttering effect. The RPM gauge will still read as if it's still in high ranges, but that's from using outdated friction gauges that are not responsive enough to display it correctly. Massive performance losses happen when it stutters.
The maker of the Trabant has also welded the carburetors reeds in place to prevent any mods. This can be overcome by purchasing the Trabant-K for an additional fee. And warranty is broken once modding. One vendor was offering unlocked Trubants at no additional cost, but were swiftly put in their place.
Should you wish to upgrade the engine to a newer model you will require an expensive new K frame. That for some inexplicable jewish reason has the space grade indium tungsten bolts on them rather than the block. Making it easy to fuck them up, and have to buy another NEW K frame as it was fault of the installer, not the designer.
