Tbh I like the idea of the GPL, but any work I do is licensed under the MIT license. I want to share my work with everyone. I only learned to code through studying MIT licensed code, it's good to give back.
do i need to go to MIT to use the license? as in release my work with it?

Let me just interject for a moment. What you are refering to as the MIT license is actually the Expat/X11 license and you're a black paki.
>>60165357
No. Just add a LICENSE file with the text of the license in there
https://choosealicense.com/licenses/mit/
Well?
>>60165357
Yes, it's copyrighted by MIT and it's illegal to use it without permission

I prefer GPL. I give you code and you can use it and improve it and if you improve it and distribute the improved result then you have to give the code for the improvements back.
That's a fair deal.
With MIT you can take my code and build upon it and sell it and keep your improvements secret and in a few cases even sue me for publishing the original code in the first place. That's not really a fair deal.
GPL will prevail. All we need is the right major crisis and the nations will accept the GNU World Order.

>sue me for publishing the original code
Explain.

>in a few cases even sue me for publishing the original code in the first place. That's not really a fair deal.
no explicit patent grant
do we have to guess before using?

> every dependency also needs to be GPL
tfw GPL is a cancer
>>60165516
>in a few cases even sue me for publishing the original code
Wrong
>>60165772
That's GPL2 only and in practice nobody cares.
Never understood the difference between mit and bsd. Both mostly say you can do whatever the fuck you want with the code including using it in closed source stuff.

gplv2 is okay. Gplv3 basically killed that shit for business. No one's going to pay you to write gplv3 code.
