anyone here ultra?
i was thinking of getting one, in theory they're pretty awesome
>same ratio as movies are filmed in
>like having 2 monitors but not space between them
is it awesome or just a meme?
and if its awesome, which one should i get? are there any glossy ones? matte sucks so much..

I can only handle ultra-wide displays if they're curved, otherwise they feel too bulky.
I used one for a few months and thought I could go back because it wasn't that different. Boy was I wrong. Going from 21:9 to 16:9 feels the same as going from 16:9 to 4:3. That said like 30% of that is having a bigger monitor on its own. Big monitors are just nicer.
It also won't replace a second monitor. There's something about the utility of having another separate screen available that you can't replicate with an ultrawide.
Don't forget to get a nice window manager!
It's hard to quantify but once you use it you can't go back, it's very comfy.

That's nothing compared to a spherical monitor.
The aspect ratio is fine, as long as you go with the 1440 vertical pixels (usually 34 or larger), but personally I think a normal 16:9 1440p unit is a better value.
Ultra wide was made for creators, not consumers. That said, you should totally buy one. Or two.

I don't have any personal experience with them but they sound really nice at least on paper. You could fit two big square shaped windows on the screen which would be awesome for productivity.
Is this monitor worth it?
150 usd

I have a Dell U3415W. Best monitor purchase I've ever made. I can't picture myself returning to anything other than 21:9
I love mine, for me 1x21:9 is more comfortable than 2x16:9.

Sure it is better value, but consider how many hours a day you spend in front of it.
Ultra-cancer thread.
16:10 or bust.

The opposite, retard

I am fine with 1x16:9 as long as it's 2560x1440 or better. My personal machine has a 30" @ 2560x1600, but honestly I don't really miss the space when I use my 27" @2560x1440 at work.

No it's shit. Buy at least a 2560x1440. You can get them new for under $200.

Keep in mind it would be the height of a 21" 16:9 monitor. I would not go for anything smaller than a 29" ultrawide. I use a 34".
>>60149636
29 ultrawide is shit. 25 even more so.
>>60149636
I don't want to spend that much money on a monitor. I already have a 16:9 1920:1080 monitor I use. What would be the best second monitor?
ultrawide is the worst of memes.
4:3 or 16:10 or 5:4 only unless you are a faggot.
not using 55" 4k display 3 feet away for maximum immersion
Been looking for one myself, 4k is only good on 40"+ and all of those have horrible problems.Unfortunately, the market is flooded with garbage bent shit.
>are there any glossy ones
kys
Went from three U2711s to one PG348Q, don't miss the old ones one bit.
