Why not? Mac OS and Linux share some similarities and compatibilities under the hood because they're both supposed to be UNIX compliant. In theory Apple could get Aqua and Quartz running on the Linux kernel just fine. They don't do that, but it proves the issue isn't the software. You just need a sufficiently motivated and paid Linux dev to do it. Those are pretty rare but it happens occasionally

KDE tries to be configurable and usable, Gnome tries to be a meme for braindead "big icons and dumb down to infinity" kids. Gnome dropped just about all of its good features, including tab scrolling with mouse wheel, F3 for second nautilus pane, context menus that are actually helpful, etc. I'm on Cinnamon for now, if it ever turns shit KDE is my next stop.

What distro did you use KDE with? Kubuntu is a piece of crap that is acknowledged by neither KDE nor Canonical so it wouldn't be a representative experience.

Linux can look like OSX, but there's a lot of things keeping it from behaving like OSX. No DE currently behaves the same with a notifications bar, an alternative to spotlight, a decent global menu (only Unity has achieved this without running into many bugs) or the plethora of gestures available in macOS. Basically you need a lot more than just the looks.

Let's be honest, macOS doesn't look that good by default. It's perhaps better than your average material design themed overly generic garbage you can run into, or Windows 10 which is generally even worse and less consistent, and very few, almost no applications break that consistency, but it also feels sort of dated. It also allows for very little to no customization at all and there's no dark theme or at least something less taxing on the eyes. Another problems include having to learn an obscure shortcut to show hidden files, no window snapping without third party software or a really inconvenient file merging behavior.

My suggestion is, if you're going to copy macOS, copy the features, not the looks. Copy spring loaded folders, the global menu (which I know a lot of people dislike, but still is a matter of preference, like I actually dislike the dock for instance but that doesn't mean people don't use it).
