I'm laughing at you all.
Is this basically like a swap partition on Linux, or is this something else?
>>60133542
No, it's more RAM you fucking retard.

So why isn't it just swap

fuck, you just gave me a new hobby. finding ridiculously shitty tech advice on youtube.
this is hilarious

you fucking cuck, you could be getting 700MB of RAM for free

but dont forget you need cd-rw for this to work properly

It's a virtual memory page file on the hard disk, I don't think you can enable a partition as a page file for Windows.

Do you realize that if you don't have an SSD or the newer Intel Optane memory you're not getting more performance out of it? If I were you I'd feel like the retard if you use a mechanical drive.

So it's swap.
>>60133508
This depends heavily on your use case.
Swap is perfect when your application doesn't actually use what it allocates.
Speed of dual socket quad channel memory: 100GB/s
Latency: 20-50ns
Speed of HDD RAID/ SSD: ~300MB/s
Latency: 0.1-30ms
Is your application so brain dead that it needs to load gigabytes of unnecessary garbage into memory without using it?

>Do you realize that if you don't have an SSD or the newer Intel Optane memory you're not getting more performance out of it
Even then it's about 1/4th to 1/5th the speed of ram
>>60134579
yea, modern day systems seems a bit pointless. it worked wonders when i was a kid. My old Celeron laptop running vista could even run some of the first versions of minecrafts infdev
on another note i had remembered there was someone on a forum i was a part of after that laptop died, he had 3 usb sticks constantly in giving him 24 gigs to some sort of old system he was running

I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT VIRTUAL MEMORY IS
