People give them the narcassistic "Likes" on various social media types. Though from my personal experiance instagram especiually. Not going to lie why I know. I find I usually get get more followers and likes on instagram when I post stuff to do with coding or Linux than I do anything else. I don't do it for attention though. I take pictures of things all the time. I just think that some of them are half-decent enough to share.
