Would making small FOS games for Linux in C get me hired?
I'm talking like:
> Pong (1972)
> Breakout (1976)
> Space Invaders (1978)
> Asteroids (1979)
> Sokoban (1981)
> Frogger (1981)
> Donkey Kong (1981)
> Pac-Man (1982)
> Pole-Position (1982)
> Bomberman (1983)
> Super Mario Bros (1985)
> Tetris (1988)
> Solitaire (1990)
> Puzzle Bobble (1994)
> Snake (1997, Nokia)
> Bejeweled(2001)

I would use SDL2 btw. Then maybe add chipmunk for physics in later projects.
What do you mean by hired?
I highly doubt companies will want to hire you just for that.
However, it shows that you are motivated to learn and code on your own which is something all companies want from their programmers. It's definitely a nice addition to your resume.

It's a nice addition and can definitely give you an edge if it's related to what you'd be doing in your position.
In most IT related jobs, C skills are a nice plus. Unless webdesign where tha javascript monkeys reside.

I want some company to hire me for minimum wage (300 euro) so I could have something on my resume and pay my rent.
I won't a wife or family, I'll rest by shitposting on /g/, so I will be able to devote a lot of time for my career.
I'm asking what would you do in my place, the only notable thing in my resume was that I got in republic programming contest and university programming team (no winning prizes though), but I have no projects to show off and they're teaching me C# in uni which I hate.
Maybe they would be more impressed by some other kind of projects, like utilities?
Or should I just try to perform best in programming competitions?

Basically, should I:
> get into competitive programming
> write a bunch of small little games that some people might play once
> write utilities that most probably nobody will use
Anyone?

What's with all those idiots thinking that programming jobs can save them from the prostitution they will have to do anyway?

How can the skills you learned to write your games to be used to write Enterprise level code?
>>60125506
What else would you suggest to fill my resume with?
>>60125534
If you can code in C I'd suggest you start contributing to open source. Start with small hobbyist projects first, then if you feel confident enough move on to writing your own patches to software like GNU or freedesktop
Also learn other languages as well and learn about what the industry uses.
