I used to be a big AVG Antivirus fan but when I upgraded to new 2017 ver some core services on my pc failed to load and I got some random error about my profile being bad. (Before said upgrade pc was running smooth). So I uninstalled it and switched to MS Security Essentials and all problems are solved. I run Security Essentials on my server and have never had any problem with it or it failing to do it's job. (Been running on server for a couple of yrs now. Didn't switch clients from avg cause up till now AVG just worked like it should). So how about you /g/.what AV software you use?

None.

ClamAV
>>
>>60119028
Literally anything other than Norton. That shit will slow your computer down.

Common Sense 2017 Lite edition

This used to be true, but lots of AV have taken pages out of Norton's book especially with "real time threat detection"
Avast is shit, McAfee is shit, Kaspersky is shit.
Defender is alright aside from the "real time detection".
MalwareBytes was good last I checked.
>>
>>60119039
This. Why the fuck do people still use proprietary shit?

kek
and that's exactly why no good antivirus is completely free, fags
>>
>>60119478
agreed, i pay good money for Bitdefender cause it works
>>
You guys should check out AV-Test, they benchmark antiviruses
https://www.av-test.org/en/antivirus/home-windows/windows-10/
>>
I don't download sketchy shit, and if something ever does happen, I just nuke the system with ComboFix or, on newer systems, ADWCleaner, both of which are the most aggressive anti-virus programs I've ever seen, and haven't failed me yet.

Then again, by the time I finally rack up a virus or some malware, it's usually time for me to format my hard drive and run a fresh install anyway, so I usually just backup and wipe.

>being so stupid that you think the AV and the virus database are the same thing

End your life.

I take it that 1.) there's a site update coming and 2.) you're a shill
>>

YES
YES
YES

BITDEFENDER ALL THE FUCKING WAY

The free version is lite and works. The paid version looks functional and actually works.
>>
Wait, people actually use anti viruses? What kind of programs/websites are you browsing/using?
>>
>>60119841
I'd prefer it if it was just a cut-down version without all the intrusive advertising.
>>
An AV is just a virtual babysitter. If you need such useless software then you don't belong here.
>>
Use an Nsane/TNOD crack on NOD32 V6-V8, you get updates normally and everything
>>
>>60119028
Security Essentials because is light was the hell and I use anti-malwares for look for something is normal.
But your best friend is setting the umatrix blocking everything by default.

Are you that retard from yesterday?
We've been over this already. The latest ClamAV database is from today

Security Essentials/Windows Defender is a massive laggy piece of shit that is "light" in its interface only.

Its scanning engine is a slow POS that will slow folder exploration to a crawl when looking at folders with many executables.

I've been using Avast actually, since it seems to be the only AV solution that scans executables fast enough to actually not be a hindrance to my regular usage.

I only install one module (custom install options, uncheck everything except File Shield) and set this shit to "Silent Mode"

I liked bitdefender but I had issues when downloading large files in my browsers: it wouldn't show the progress of the downloads until it was actually finished where it'd pause for a bit (larger the file, longer the pause) then jump from 0% to 100%.

I assume this is due to bitdefender essentially intercepting the download to scan the entire file stream before writing out to the filesystem.

It also locks up all my torrent clients after an hour, where you can't even exit or forcefully terminate them which slowly starts to lock up other things till windows completely locks up, only solution is to gracefully restart.

the best antivirus is common sense

and having restore points / backups so that incase shit goes south you can just reload a backup from a couple days ago

also popup and script blockers are essential for your web browser

w10 defender, and nothing else
anything that can pass that will pass everything else and you are fucked either way
>>
>>60123732
kek at that pic. I was thinking the same thing. I don't even torrent anymore. The last time w10 defender got anything was when i was trying to open a keygen for a windows 7 image file.
>>
>>123325178
Holy shit.

I never properly noticed this until you said it. Strange shit>>60119028
>>
>>60119028
Malwarebytes + Defender is literally the only security worth having. Malwarebytes to scan, and Defender for detection.

Any other antivirus is literal spyware and nagware. And BitDefender bricked my computer somehow once, had to go back to a savestate.
>>
>>60123732
sudo apt-get install brain
>>
Check out AV comparatives.
Ignore the retards that say "common sense durr", common sense isn't going to protect you when a 0 day RCE is discovered and malicious code is injected into a legitimate website you use.
