>Chrome 59 now supports APNG
Is WebP dead now?
firefox supported it for years
chrome is a joke
>>60116369
ebay and a bunch of messengers recently started using it so nope.
>>60116401
must be why firecocks market share is like 5% now
It's dead, Jim
>>60116451
Is that so.
I heard a while back some companies tried using it (such as facebook) but because there aren't many image viewers that support it by default, it became a slight issue with tech-illiterates.
Meanwhile, I heard FireFox is also going to be supporting WebP, so dunno how that'll go.
>>60116369
Was it ever alive?
>>60116525
More alive than APNG apparently.
>>60116525
A lot of images on ebay use webp and as an anon mentioned, there are messengers who use it as well.
Shit, forgot pic related.
Everyone go on ebay and see. You'll immediately see webp images on the homepage (unless you use the SJW browser).
>>60116369
Most likely. Unless the majority keeps using gif files forever, not unlike mp3.

>opus deprecates vorbis before it even gets mainstream
>apparently apng deprecates webp before it becomes mainstream
>avc1 or something deprecates all other video formats before they even become mainstream
wtf is going on here?
>>60116761
AV1 is still not ready, actually.
And the only reason it'll really deprecate other video formats is because it's being released with an open license by several tech giants, in order to combat the patent hell of HEVC. So it's really a matter of necessity.
>>60116451
>5% marketshare
doesn't matter even if it were true.
>>60116401
>chrome is a joke
>for not supporting a meme format for years
Wew
Next you're gonna say Chrome is a joke for not supporting BPG (it won't) or JXR (also won't... probably)
>>60117706
It supported it with an addon.
