Don't mobile apps need to package in all dependencies compared to traditional desktop apps? This may explain it.
>>
installed and uninstalled gnome (all the normal packages and their deps) to demonstrate something
was 159 packages, ~700MiB installed size total, and took 28 seconds to install the whole lot onto an old 500GB hdd

Factorio. 600mb for an indy game that has late 90s graphics. No small patches, just re-download the entire game. There were 3 version released in the last 4 days.

was helping a friend setup a multiplayer of an old game, Lords of the Realm II
they have the steam release of the game, and it's as lazy as you could possibly imagine
it's just a completely untouched copy of the original cd, which is nice on one hand, as it has no DRM or steam checks
... but the funniest part is that the files also include two ~200MiB padding files, which if you're not familiar with the idea, was used back with some optical disc games that didn't used all of the disc, to force the actual game data towards the outer edge of the disc, where it's fastest
of course, this means nothing if not on a cd, all it does it make the game ~3.5x bigger

anyway, the reason i found this was because i was making up a VM with windows xp and the game pre-configured since they were having trouble in windows 10, the game is from 1996, after all
the 7z'd VM, windows xp and all, was still several times smaller than the data steam provides
