So if that 3.1A wall charger were just a volt higher, it could have worked?

About the cable, earlier I found this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/322384475558

It says 5V 9V in the title, though the specs don't say anything about voltage so I wasn't sure it would make any difference, besides I would need an additional adapter to convert the female usb to male too.
Still, if it could work better with this cable instead of the other one, I can always try searching a cheap female to male adapter for it.

That's not true, tor is not recommended because the relays automatically block torrent- traffic since the people running them don't want the network to get saturated with people downloading torrents. Check Tribler.

>>
>>60099021
The cable itself shouldn't care about voltage. Something that short would stand a decent chance of carrying over all the amps it's given, but an additional adapter might introduce resistance and keep some of them from getting across.

What 3.1A chager? Saying it would have worked if it was only a volt higher is like asking how hard can it be to find a clock with 13 on it, since there are so many with 12. USB output is almost always 5v.

Although it supports 6V, it's only 600mA.

So far I'm just looking for a posedge of either one of the mics, and after a delay I'm looking at the states of the mics. If they're both on i go straight, and then turn if one of the mics is on and the other one is off.

Is there a better way to do this?

Nah, that's only what it shows regarding packet information. I've heard the router has hidden pages, but information is scarce to say the least regarding them. Not to say one exists that shows any more information that it does anyway, it's pretty barebones as far as router interfaces go.

In terms of information it can offer you, pic related is it. I can go through and make an imgur of every page, but I think this is as relevent as it will ever get.

lmao @ ur life brul

here's the thing:
1. connect a card reader to your PC, insert your raspi SD card
2. mount your root partition on the SD card (sell your raspi if you use windows)
3. go to /etc/rc2.d
4. create a symlink to sshd (you need to be root of course):
ln -s ../init.d/ssh S02ssh

OPTIONAL: edit /etc/ssh/sshd.conf for your liking
5. umount your sd card, put it in your raspi and boot it. sshd should be started and after boot you should be able to log in

NOTE: this is a sysvinit method which should be still supported in the pötteringd version shipped with debian stable.

yeah thats true, I was more-so talking in terms of how you'd write the language as a person not how the machine would interpret it. I think just from a logical standpoint iteration will always been quicker and less resource intensive than recursion especially if it's implemented improperly.

Yeah, I told the TalkTalk support about the intrusions, but they said it's just the router firewall doing it's job and it's nothing to worry about. I was worried about the frequency of them, but they weren't.

Some of the reconnections are from when I was trying to connect to 2.4GHz instead of 5GHz, but it wasn't working so well.

It has been disconnecting randomly though, the big red bits at 15:00 and 15:15 pic are 1 minute periods of no internet. Completely random, they happen whether the connection is shifting a lot of packets or not, but it seems to happen more frequently when I'm playing vidya, or watching Amazon Prime.
>>
>>60101641
does this happen every 15 minutes? that sounds like a timeout expiring and something retrying. Maybe these talktalk routers have something similar to my issue with comcast's routers. it could be that it's trying to peer with a neighbor of yours or something like that. is that a pretty regular thing that 15 minute interval?

Depends on the language. Rust, for example, is a low-level language that should be used to replace C(at least according to the fanboys), so in that context the argument has at least some merit. If we're talking about Python or other high-level language, those were never intended for that kind of use, so that's like asking why people don't use knives to cut down full-sized trees.

ISP replaced family's cable box with an always-on one and the phone/modem/router with an all-in-one with a backdoor.
For the former I was thinking of just plugging it off at night, but I fear someone on another TV may try to watch since the others don't have dedicated boxes (I'm assuming it just streams from the main box). Not home right now and the plugs are a pain to reach.
The modem and router situation is more disturbing. The new hardware is admittedly nice, but I guess I'll have to press for how much renting it costs so I can come up with a suitable budget for replacements.
Don't have a specific question, but please advise.

1V
>got a device that in the specs says 6-32V 3a
this usually means it accepts any voltage between 6 and 32V, the 3A will be a minimum or maximum depending on what kind of device it is
i'm guessing it's something like a charge controller, as most normal devices don't support such a wide range of voltage inputs
a common 12v power supply will do the trick, you can buy them anywhere
if 3A is a minimum, then it'll be for 6V, since the wattage will be higher for 32V/3A, at 6V/3A it's 18W, and 12V/3A is 36W, to reach the minimum of 18W with 12V, you need a 12V/1.5A supply

Hello /g/.

I've been wanting to make a machine for IOMMU passthrough under GNU/Linux to a Windows VM for muh games. This is pertinent information because I will need 2x graphics output.

I like the AMD offerings currently for processors, and I also like AMD GPUs solely because they are officially supporting the open source drivers. I do know however that Ryzen doesn't have integrated graphics, so I will be reliant on multiple GPUs to make this work. AMD will eventually release their APUs though, and I could use an APU + single graphics card, which for some reason is more attractive to me.

So finally to my question- keeping my needs in mind, is an APU going to have worse performance than the comparable non-APU processor? And if so, does this affect intel who ONLY sells processors with integrated graphics? Is an AMD APU seen as not as good for "gaymen".

Many thanks gee.

Considering becoming an embedded systems engineer. Will I eventually need to learn Electrical/Computer Engineering or can I stick to the CompSci/Software aspect of it. Also is c/c++ the only language or is Java also not a bad choice. Hoping to work on medical instruments and devices.

For embedded, you will want to get into C/C++ as you mentioned, Java isn't used in any embedded applications that I know of but I'm sure someone will come prove me wrong. All the jobs I see are heavy C/C++.

Computer Engineering seems to be the best path for this, but of course CS is fine as long as you just focus on the OS/kernel courses and dive into that in your free time.

Keep in mind I'm in systems engineering/devops/SRE/whatever so take whatever I say with a grain of salt. Just lookup some jobs and check the reqs. I've been sort of looking towards this in the future and if I had to do it all over again, comp eng + C/C++ is how I would do it, but now I'm playing catch up.

embedded java exists but I wouldn't recommend it.

I tried to install windows 10 to my windows partition - 60gb and this happened. This is the first time I do this. How do I resolve this?
>>
>>60107457
You need to delete all your patitions and use the format option since Windows 10 and 8.1 use GPT, not MBR.

Or install Windows 7.

IDK, but I think the general consensus on /g/ is that Asus has shit quality. I've had one Asus motherboard go bad on me, although I can't rule out that it was a bad PSU that fried it.

With basic programs only i would say 80GB.
20GB for windows specially if you disable updates.
20GB for basic work programs.
40GB to save whatever you do in those programs.
>>
>>60107839
Asus makes good stuff, their low end stuff are really bad tho.
The main problem with Asus is, you have literally no warranty, im not kidding, 0 unless you use Amazon.

That is a really good deal tho.

Bitrate, grain in encoding, etc.
>>
>>60107896
The first one is a WEB-DL. Its streamed
>>
>>60107934
>>60107950
So there is an obvious and clear difference which is easy to notice?
>>
>>60107992
I mean with regards to audio/video of course.
>>
>>60107896
first is a re-encoded web service rip, such as from netflix/itunes/amazon/etc
normal 720p web-dl's are 1.3G+

the second is a TV capture

in this case the second will likely be higher quality, the first may be a better source, but ShAaNiG is like the yify of tv encodes, low ass quality
>>

Can you not tell the difference from 120p and 1080p or some shit? Or are you just plain retarded?

I read 720p, I assume 720p. The only reason I wasn't convinced here was due to the massive difference in file size.

>>60108103
K, you're just retarded
>>
>>60108116
Explain why the one who labeled the torrent as 720p isn't retarded.
>>
>>60107992
WEB-DL means the broadcaster encoded it for the web and it was ripped straight
HDTV means its encoded with x264 from a broadcasted MPEG-2 stream
The HDTV one is probably still better but due to the difference in sources/encoding they could be somewhat similar, hard to say without a direct comparison.

The sports feeds are done on satellite, over the internet and yes, on FM radio subcarriers. Various sports data services install boxes that decode that stuff in bars, stadiums etc. The FM radio feed is one of the older types of sports feeds.

recently bought a h55 AIO cooler and the fan is noisy af, I thought water cooling is suppose to be quieter than air cooling? It's running louder than my stock fx6300 cooler.

is it faulty or it's how it is? Did I got duped into getting a shitty AIO cooler?
>>
>>60104953
That's how it's supposed to be, it's an average power limit, not an instantaneous power limit.
>>
>>60108192
>he fell for the 120mm liquid cooler meme
Liquid cooling is only as good as the surface area you get, small surface area=faster fans to get enough air over it
>>
>>60108103
the resolution is just one aspect of video quality
there's a lot of things that can affect visual quality, but you don't have access to most of that just looking at torrent names, but you can make an educated guess based on;
- source (HDTV, WEB-DL, BLURAY, DVD, etc), all else equal, a better source yields better quality, even if the result is the same size
- codec (x264/AVC, x265/HEVC, etc), all else equal, a more modern codec will result in better quality
- filesize and video length, which together indicate the total bitrate, most of which will be for the video, all else being equality, higher bitrate equals higher quality
- resolution (720p, 1080p, 480p, 576p, etc), this is a tricky one, all else being equal, higher resolution DOESN'T mean higher visual quality, as the higher the resolution, the higher the bitrate needs to be to 'support' the additional pixels, the resolution is more of a 'limit', than a quality indication. a lower resolution video can be higher quality overall than a higher resolution one
- being familiar with group names helps as well, they are often very consistent in quality

I have a Silverstone TD 03 (I didn't really get it for the water cooling, I got it because I have a Silverstone SG 13 case and it's the best cooler that can fit in it), it's not very loud at all. Try replacing the fan on yours with a quieter one. Make sure it's double ball bearing (the quietest type of fan).

So, I'm just going to throw this out there even though I doubt there's any kind of fix for it.

I have two monitors. One is a DVI, primary, works fine.

The second is HDMI, which means that when I turn it off, windows has no idea it's there and forgets everything about it. About half the time when I turn it on, it displays with a noticeable overscan that isn't needed, meaning a large portion of the picture is missing.

The way to fix it after it happens is to change the resolution and then change it back again. The issue is even fixed after I click "no" on the "is everything working" prompt and the display reverts to previous settings.

As you can imagine this becomes tedious since I have to go into a settings panel after turning shit on.

So if anyone knows how I might prevent this from happening, please share.

So a friend will get a NAS this summer, but he also wants to use it as a server. What are the main differences between a NAS and a server? I know that a NAS usually have a cheap weak CPU like a low end celeron and 2 or maybe 4 gb of RAM (mostly laptop RAM). But, about perfomance and price, if he wants a 16TB NAS it will cost him 660€, but if he buys a cheap server with lets say a xeon and 4/8 GB or RAM, and then two 8TB HDD, it will go up to 800€ or more.

He would use it to store a webpage, a tracker and a Minecraft server.
