>>
>>60099782
DELETE THIS RIGHT NOW
>>
>>60098876
After some looking, it appears that it isn't something you can opt out of when installing the update. Well at least FOSS drivers are still an option. The problem at the moment is just the installer for the drivers. So long as more companies don't start doing this with their firmware like Lenovo did, we're still good.

>>60099782
But removing the telemetry installed with Nvidia's drivers doesn't require deleting the drivers. Both Nvidia's and AMD's bullshit is just in their installers at the moment.
>>
>>60099842
The telemetry program is built into the driver itself

No, it was recently added to the standalone installers without an opt out option. In order to opt out you have to manually remove the telemetry software after updating your drivers with the standalone installer.

Guess it's still better than Nvidia drivers sending your data to them, unless you know how to disable it.

You still need to log-in with your account to use basic features. Nvidia is cancer.

90% of microtransactions are just a means to launder dirty money harry.

It is a real issue, for now it is just a link with no user option to opt out wasting a few seconds of your time to delete. They have shown they have the motive to fuck with users, you can bet your ass they will eventually follow nvidia's example using more and more intrusive means.

If it is a link or advert showing inside the installer that you can choose to click and be redirected while it is downloading/installing that is not a problem since it is not intrusive, throwing shortcuts and links on your desktop without a clearly defined option to opt out let alone any option to opt out is akin to the practices of malware/adware infested installation packages you get from a seedy site or sites that try to bait you into installing third party bloatware.
You spent a sizable amount money on the hardware for fucks sake, and expect to be able to install drivers crucial for the device your bought to function without unnecessary junk. Nvidia take their bullshit a mile further but that does not excuse AMDs behavior in the least.

good

Microsoft wrote recently on their blog recently how telemetry helps avoid botched updates and improve the OS overtime. nVidia's intent is just the same as Microsoft's whereas AMD's shorten url misleads the user. You know who else uses strange urls to trick users? Malwares.

good faggot

Good enough thread to ask, is there any downsides to only installing AMD's driver and not the AMD Radeon Settings stuff?

Then why the hell do you always shit breaking after every update they release? Why the fuck is every new major build progressively worse than the last?
>>
>>60110455
No.

It's garbage that's useless

Also whatever happened to custom drivers?
>>

Because their hardware cannot into dx12

just updated my drivers. no shortcut. novidya lies. enjoy your botnet.

Implying nvidia drivers won't blow up your pc if left installed anyway.

>>60110914
It's not really adware. It's a desktop icon link without permission. But it's still shitty.
Standard practice is for an installer to ask if you want an icon put on your task bar and so on.
Acting innocent about this gauranteed beta access being some good thing is stupid. They could have easily added a link to the finish page to the installer instead and there'd have been no issue.

You people are seriously retarded. And you can avoid AMD "ads" by just installing the driver without the bundle.
