It's just a similarity relation. You need the quaternion matrix and its inverse, q and q^-1.

Suppose you have a vector representation of the 3D object's orientation, v. Then qvq^-1 yields the transformed coordinates, v'. It's painfully simple, since if you're studying quaternions you should have taken linear algebra.
