I don't use my pc that heavily. I play some casual games at lowest settings such as csgo and overwatch recently.
So about 2 weeks ago my computer has started getting hot over nothing. And by hot I mean like really hot. Almost burning hot. I don't know what to do about it. My fan has also been making a odd noise, so that's weird as well.
I'm planning on bringing it to Best Buy or something this weekend, but do you think I might break my computer if I keep using it? I really don't want to miss a event going on rn.

Assuming you aren't running any shit software that is keeping your CPU maxed out (chrome tabs being left open can do this also):
Turn off the computer. Stick your mouth up to the fan vent, blow as hard as possible. I bet a good amount of dust will come out.
You might want to try taking it apart to get at the fan assembly if that doesn't help.

I've had this computer since 2014. Run lots of games and was even able to run a vive on it. I'm not switching to a desktop until this thing is done.

Will do. But do you think there is any risk of me running my computer simply by playing a game?

start shoppin' buddi
In reality though, get a new system fan. Fans wear out over time.

Worst case is it might crash on you.

Yeah it's crashed once, but I assumed it was because of the game crashing.

I just blew a little bit into the fan and some dust came out, so I'm sure with some compressed air I can fix this up. Worse comes to worse I'll see what Best Buy has to say.
