Yeah, if you live in a city you can pretty much forget about getting decent speeds over 2.4Ghz

You should be able to get enough over 5Ghz though, but then range could become too limiting.

I get 130-140 over wireless, and I actually get close to 175 with a wired connection even though I only pay for 150. I actually looked at 2.4GHz interference and for some reason it's pretty much all channel 1 or channel 11, so I set mine to channel 6 and I get decent 2.4GHz speeds as well.

What part of opposite side of the house did you not understand? The microwave is on the upper level on the left side of the house. The access point is on the lower level and on the right side of the house. No matter where you are in the house the WiFi starts shitting itself when you turn the microwave on. An issue which easily sorted by plugging my desktop, which doesn't move anyway, directly into the access point. This also comes with extra benefits such as reducing the collision domain, increasing speeds, preventing ping spikes, etc. Even if you're using a laptop you can plug it in for extra performance and when you want to move around you can use the WiFi. You're retarded.

802.11 is also half-duplex and has extreme trouble getting even close to the theoretical link rate, while GbE does full duplex and can consistently pull extremely close to theoretical in the wild. Sure, you can achieve higher speeds in lab conditions with those massive bandwidth hog solutions requiring both wireless bands utilized at once, but GbE is still faster in the real world and ridiculously cheap to boot.

RJ-45 is the name of the connector, not the cable itself.

Please don't make a fool of yourself again.

For future purchases, Ethernet Cable will sufice, CAT- refers to the cable type or category.
