Thought about switching to qubes, I just didn’t know if the settings in the template vm’s applied to all the others so I wouldn’t have to reconfigure Firefox in every vm. otherwise looks good overall

More or less, things work with default images fine but some of there's are a mess, ie arch not upgradable without a shit ton of manual work due to dependency issues with their tools

anything in the template's home will be copied but only on image creation, you'd have to set up scripts in dom0 to sync across data or share data via nfs or similar and mount the firefox directory

This is why I dont use it, it's too much of a potential failure. Everything relies on xen. Like even the whole everything runs at root meme annoys me, I know the whole idea is it doesn't matter because they'd probably be able to escalate anyways and protection but what protection of Xen is insecure. KVM is an even bigger attack vector but at least with a properly patched and hardened kernel you can limit and prevent any damage, even if they somehow manage to get control of kvm, they wont be able to escape it.
