Currently have a Droid Turbo 2. I like it somewhat, but I'm literally in the process of backing up all my shit so I can wipe the phone for the fourth time in my history with it. The phone just has a tendency of lagging like fuck and freaking out after awhile, which I think mostly happens after I update to the latest version of Android. Anon here from yesterday with Moto E who was rec'd the Priv.

I ended up picking the Priv up, while it may not have root or ROMs, it seems close enough to stock that I should be able to deal with it a-okay. Plus, the focus on security does please my inner tinfoil hat, never mind the price of only 450$ CAD (bloody HST) I paid.

It should be here tomorrow or the day after, so I'm excited to receive it... gonna have to get a nano SIM from my carrier though, fuck me.

The singular aspect of this device that bugs me most about it is the fact that there's no way to move the back button to the right side of the navbar. I usually hold my phone with my right hand, and I got used to that placement because my first few smartphones were from Samsung who does that by default. My most recent phone was an LG G4 (died of bootloop yesterday, RIP), which had the option to customize the navbar in the default settings, out of the box, without even requiring root or anything (but I still rooted+xposed it, of course). Google literally added this feature in the Android 7 beta, then got rid of it.

I would also like to have a stronger "night mode"/f.lux clone feature. The default on the device literally only has an on/off switch, with no way to customize its intensity. I used to use CF.Lumen, which allowed me to scale the light intensity all the way down to only activating the red pixels (which is fucking beautiful for browsing at night, especially on OLED screens).

There's no way to remove the fucking shitty Google search box at the top of the home screen that suggests banal-ass (((top news stories))) and only opens to Chrome even after changing the default browser.

Also all of the stock Google apps are botnet and having no method to mitigate that or at least have slightly more fine-grained control over how much data they both harvest from me and embarrassingly spit back into my face at random times gives me a bad case of the howling fantods. I thought I could deal with not having the bootloader unlocked because Android 7 offered the stock night mode + rootless adblock + improved deep sleep and those were the only things I actively used root for, but I was wrong.

These all sound like elbows-too-pointy tier flaws, but literally none of them are a problem on custom ROMs and they all upset my autism enough to really blunt my view of this phone.

Oukitel is nice and all but 6000mAh is exaggerated. Yu wont be able to drain 4000mAh with a midrange chipset in one day. Also the mt6753 is far away from being a beast. The snapdragon of a redmi 4 got releases two years more recently and is produced in 14nm instead of 28. So should bei more efficient.

The HTC has a (not that) better CPU but benchmarks say that the Zenfone 3 still has better performance due to better optimized software. So my HTC One M7 from 2013 finally kicked the bucket. For a few weeks it was locking up and now it's stuck in a bootloop. Tried recovery with no success. The notification shows up when Firefox is open but it dies when I change app. Newpipe works at least, but I hope Firefox will be fixed soon.
