Are founders edition cards really that bad?
We got gift cards from an retailer as work bonus, but it only has founders edition 1080Ti's. But with the gift card a 1080Ti would "only" be (the equivalent of) US$ 400

They run in the mid-80s by design and get pretty loud (even more so if you want to lower temperatures). I don't know about the 1080 Ti, but the 1080 one also throttled like crazy, right down to its rated base clock over time.

Does it help if I have a Define R5? It's an isolated case

They're just extremely overpriced. They're not bad, but you're hitting thermals much more easily.

Unless you're watercooling your gpu, you'll get cucked by high temps.
I have one and it's fine. Doesn't go above 75°C with my slightly aggressive fan curve. I am used to the noise though since I've been on reference designs since 2010. Granted, I also have a Silverstone case with a 90° turned motherboard orientation.
