Can i unlock on this processor 4 cores? Is a AMD Athlon 64X2 5200 +
I am planning to use it for gaming so is crucial if i can unlock the four cores

>Athlon 64
No

Just buy another one, remove the cores from that and tape them to the bottom. Job done.
Go in the forest, look under some rocks, find an Athlon X4.

Mate that processor is from 2006

Name one (1) CPU that performs better than it released since then.
>>60080448
Athlon 64 X2 6400+
>tfw I'm still running a x2 4400+ for irc shells and other light stuff
>tfw I'm waiting for the abit mobo to die, but it keeps outliving newer gigabyte "ultra durable" mobos and other such trash
>>60080448
>find 1 (one) flaw in X
>what is best Y and why is it X
>how can anybody compete when X is with us
You have taken this too far. There is a whole lot of CPUs performing better including C2D 8500 which I use now.

this, fucking LE ULDRA DURABBLE XDD garbage, after one year it's dead

Phenom II 940
I'm 98% certain it will run on the same motherboard you wanted to use that 5200 on. Source: I have one on nForce 590 (the first Crosshair)

Ding ding ding
>>60079940
Just buy a new cpu, if you're going to use it for gaming you cheap fuck

So much this. I have a PC at home with an Athlon 64x2 4000+ and an ASUS mobo from 2006. It still fucking works perfectly today.
So you are suggesting me drop 80$ on a Phenom 940 when i can buy a 5000 and unlock the four coures for 10$? You don't know much about tech as i can see

I don't know my MA790X-UD4P is still kicking with one of the meme tricores in it.
I have a Asus M2N-E that I found some years back in a electro-dumpster.
Its a pretty low end board is from 2006 and had a x2 5000+ in it. I upgraded to the highest supported model which is the 95w version of the Phenom2 x4 945.. I can overclock it to 3750mhz without a problem on water, tho the board squeal pretty good under load as its just a 3 phase vrm..
But it still fucking works.
I remember being very dissapointed when they discontinued socket 939 so soon after the dualcores hit.
The only difference was basicly just ddr2 memory controller, and 939 could have had far longer longevity with a phenom quadcore.
Rocked my Opteron 175 @ 3.2ghz on a DFI Lanparty NF4-D all they way until late 2009, but K8 dualcores was severely underpowered by then.
