USB3 is embarrassingly slow and unstable as well. I can't believe what a poor standard it is. I used to run an external as my main drive ... must've lost a lot of hair off my head doing that.
The external Jew has you in its grips and you're returning to it tho lol
1) Open 2TB USB enclosure.
2) Remove HDD
3) Install HDD in desktop computer.
3) Copy contents of HDD to USB 3.0 drive enclosure.
I hope to god people don't torrent from these things.

I do
Why? My connection caps at 50mbit anyway

>Implying OP was smart enough to buy a HDD that can be removed from it's enclosure

>implying i have or want a desktop computer
>implying i do not keep an external hd strictly to connect to firetv to play file off of
although i have to admit, the 2 TB external i have that im copying off of is 7 years old and still works, im happy about that
>>60076795
you can just crack the fucker open most of the time
>>60076866
Vast majority of WD drives that isn't true. Have to be careful.

>I used to run an external as my main drive
I do this now for my home server's root which is on a SSD, easier to back it up when you can just unplug it and image it from another machine.
Granted my install went to shit a few days ago in an unrelated event and I'm currently rebuilding it, plus all my meaningful data is on internal HDDs.

Why is backing up still so fucking cumbersome in 2017? There's literally no end all be all software that works cross platform.
In the end I just shadow copied my shit on Windows.
>>60076662
ur fault for waiting so long
