UNIX is relevant as a design philosophy
it's depreciated as a commercial OS
it's derivatives survive and thrive to this day

Fuck you for that gif.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
As to your question, no it isn't. It's relevant from the Unix design philosophy, to the posix standards, libc, and the OSes based on those. Also, there is still a substantial commercial Unix presence, in the financial sectors, and government. You just don't hear about it much anymore, because old, stable and reliable makes for bad headlines, and worse blogs.
I like it when fireworks fuck up because it means that I can throw them in a fire

Your mom is deprecated.

Deprecated by what? Things like GNU or BSD? Guess it depends on your use case. Plenty of UNIX still out there in the wild, some installs are still running since the late seventies. If/When they stop doing what they're supposed to be doing, I imagine those applications will be migrated to something more modern.
