16GB RAM was a mistake

what's the rule then?
>Swap in 2017
Who does this?
>>60067463
for RAM under 8 GB, swap = half of ram
for RAM more than 8 GB, swap = 2 GB
>>60067495
>for RAM more than 8 GB, swap = 2 GB
You mean >= 8 GB, right?
>>60067495
I have exactly 8GB ram, what do?
How do I reconfigure swap in GNU/LINUX?
>>60067591
what in the actual fuck.
swapoff
resize partition
swapon
takes approx. 45 seconds
128GB ram here. No swap. Why would you increase the swap the more memory you have? What possible use case requires 32GB of swap and doesn't freeze your computer for literally days when you actually start to hit a couple GBs?
>>60067591
Haskell wont have allowed him to get away with that incomplete definition.
>>60067572
>>60067591
Yes >=
>>60067495
And this still makes sleep (suspend) mode usable?
>>60067621
Memory is allocated that isn't needed. Swap gives a place to allocate said memory. With no swap you'll run out of commit before running out of RAM, so your RAM won't ever be fully utilized.
>>60067922
mmm, I guess I don't have this problem since the bulk of my ram is taken by audio samples that just stay there for days without being moved, but I get what you mean
