at most, I would spend $4000-5000 on an all-frills pc.

you do not want BLEEDING EDGE, BRAND NEW, $1000 a piece parts

even with infinite money I would still want parts from that are common enough to have been highly reviewed and mass tested in the real world by real consumers.

if you buy bleeding edge you end up screwed, waiting for new drivers and optimization patches more often.

You have to be somewhat realistic, man.
In 2002 Apple was a terrible investment. Apple had no real products other than the Mac, and the Mac was largely seen as a niche platform for artists.
The company didn't really have a direction or future. Their stock was largely stagnant until 2006, when the iPod started picking up steam. 2008 - onward is when they really moved, largely because they had a novel product - the iPhone.

Basically, everyone stop with the "oh hurr if I had just invested in 1995 I would be a gorillionare now." You would never have invested in apple then, and you would have dropped it multiple times before it got to the big 2011-12 peaks.

Use whatever top-tier computing system they come up with every year, have them ship it to me on my private colony station orbiting Jupiter. Which (including all it satellites and it's entire orbit of the Sun) I would have claimed as my personal empire when I established my original presence there.

Money cannot be infinite and useful. Every time you use it from your infinite storage you're weakening the overall value of it, assuming it didn't already become worthless the minute you got infinite amounts of it. At some point it will be worthless, meaning you own something infinite amounts with no value.

The only way you can have any value on it is to restrict it from others and hide the fact that you have infinite amounts of it. The amount that you can spend could be achieved with some sane number so it's pointless to think how it would be when infinite. Money is human invention which would have zero value in an apocalyptic world where the actual goods are what people want.

Gaming hardware isn't THAT expensive really, you don't need to be "rich" to afford the high-end, it's not like I'm collecting vintage cars or some shit which requires huge amounts of money.

with 1 terabyte of RAM you can run far more than just 50 VM's, anon.

Probably at 1000 VM's at the very least, windows 7 with minimal shit, or you could try some autism with linux and run 10k VM's, but at that point I would start pitying your CPU and your house
>>
I would fit 128GB of RAM on X299 and create a 24/7 RAM disk with whatever current game. I'd run two 1500W PSU and quadfire Vega x2's. Full loop with chromalloy pipes. Triple Raid 2280 (6TB). On 8k display with 10k audio system.

I never thought about that until just this second.
In America, the income that people made was already taxed. Then they put that money into a lottery.
Then when someone wins, that same money is taxed again from the winner. That's double taxation!

What I meant is running the OS's within the VM's, the lowest I could go with Windows 7 was with about 300 or 400 MB, and can go up to 1GB or 2GB at worst case, try not to use too much, either way having so many VMs is very useful, imagine the simulations with networks and other things you can do, not sure about simulating routers and firewalls and so on.. might need some more advanced VM software, like VMware ESX or something, beats me.

My first thought was a simple maxed out to a functional level (some nice options just aren't worth it) Puget unit with some minor personal adjustments.

But then I realized infinite money. ...

So I will have a new computer built from the ground up. Sure compatibility would be horrific as nothing like it would have ever been made, but it would effectively be the proto computer which all new computers are based off of. As the R&D to build my computer would remove the major limitations in our current systems. I would then license this tech out at a very low fee.

This would revolutionize the world as we get huge gains in computer technology along with better standardization and module options. And make me super rich as that tech I license out would soon be used in every freaking thing on the planet. Plus I could sell it to a museum and buy a newer model that works better for a fraction of that.
>>
Infinite money...

I don't want a PC next to me I want that shit in a server room, where people I hire keep it 100% up to date, then evolve that into RND in cooling overclocking, bios coding, hardware design, and so on and so on, infinite money just keep the ball rolling ever expanding and pushing the limits, infinite money no stopping until I own the world and every single person on it is working to bring me the best possible 4chan browsing experience, stupid question btw.

I'd spend a bunch on a top of the line consumer level platform and upgrade the GPU every 18 months or so, replacing the platform every 3 years or so. If money was no concern.

The real question is how much to spend on screens, audio, desk'n'chairs, etc.
>>
