I owned android phones from 2010 up until last year. Every single unit had some sort of idiosyncrasy or bug in using it, or otherwise fell apart in 2 years.

Android has many features but implements most of them in a mediocre way. The underlying design of the system is inefficient and the app ecosystem is poor.

iOS allows for fewer features, and sometimes the lack of them is inconvenient. But most of them are well thought out and have another layer of polish; a generally better implementation. Everything runs as native code atop a well tuned base, and the app ecosystem (although worse than it used to be) is considerably better.

If your phone is your only computing device, it should be an Android. You need the flexibility to force it into doing what you need. But I am fortunate enough that my smartphone is a luxury device; a portable convenience. If there is some format I can't read with it or some device that can't talk to it, it's not a big deal. It can wait until I get home.

99% of things I want to do on a phone are available on both. I want to use a web browser, access maps, listen to music, take notes, use a calculator, take pictures, and call people. I prefer to use the device that makes doing these things more pleasant, and for me that's my iPhone.

Most of the springboard theme developers stopped updating their themes for each new iOS revision because Apple cripples jailbreaking every time and Android does the exact same thing better out the box.

Files are saved locally within apps in iOS. There is no desktop-style local filesystem exposed to the user. The zip file doesn't have a place outside whatever app it was originally found (Mail, Messages, Notes, Safari) either.

If you want a desktop-style file system to play with, you'll have to use a cloud storage service like iCloud Drive or Dropbox. Then you can save and organize any file you want.
