I didn't. I found an Curry's/PC World Gift Card on eBay and used it without permission. I got a GTX 1070. EZ upgrade.

But I only have a 1050 Ti for emulation, and that's relatively inexpensive.

I do wish for the times when a high-end HD4850 could be bought for a couple of hundred bucks instead of the shit we have to put up with now, but alright.

I bought my 6970 back when it was new so that I could future proof myself. I still use the card today in my play computer which has no issues pushing 3 monitors with multiple games at the same time on medium-max graphic settings or high/max if playing a game on a single monitor with a multimedia player on one side screen and whatever else on the other.

I think when the 1050Ti gets down to $100 or so, even if a rebate is involved, I'll grab one. This machine only has an i5-2400, so anything more powerful would be bottlenecked by my old slow CPU.

I didn't, my graphics card is a 740 GT super clocked 2GB ram. I only play older titles (1999-2004 era) so the card works perfectly for my needs.

So I can run machine learning projects in reasonable time.

Because I can. Spending $800 or so once every 2 years or even once a year isn't a big deal for me.

I've had the EVGA 980ti classified since launch. It does 1550mhz boost on stock voltage and hits only 78C under extreme bench loads. Still maxes all games at 1440p. Waiting on Vega or Volta before I upgrade. If I upgrade at all.

It wasnt that bad at all. Skyrim really isnt that intensive of a game.

CSGO got around 60fps on all low in 720p, best map was Dust 2, Aztec was the worst, id lose about 20 frames

Lighter stuff like Terraria, Hotline Maimi 1&2, Minecraft etc run just fine.
