Both have the same thermal limits, so it's not like you're really going to notice it during longer constant workload. You won't notice it during bursts either due the small difference.

Not at all.

What are you trying to prove? You just blew hundreds on a dual-core crock of shit because "i7!!!"

8GB RAM. Knowing Crapple, they probably also solder the RAM so you can't upgrade. 8GB is laughable for a 2,000 shekel machine.

256GB SSD. We've been out of the GB era for 2 years now. 256GB is netbook-tier.

In short, have fun with your 2,000 dollar internet browser

CPU upgrade seems odd.
name your use case where that upgrade is noticeable compared to base and beats the 13" mbp touch bar (same $1799 price) which comes with a 28W CPU instead of 15W and has faster RAM (2133MHz LPDDR3 instead of 1866MHz)

This is true. Mostly. It's a lot less clear cut. Constant high workloads for one is enough unless the other is completely idling. Besides most programs try to utilize GPU acceleration.

Besides the benefit from couple extra mhz (and a bit extra cache) is negligible unless you're encoding 4K movies all the time, in which case a 13" laptop is a weird ass choice.
>>
>>60008843
Bron I have a macbook mysemf but the one you bought is an atrocious buy. All points that anon said are right. Atleast spend soms more shekels then tot get some beter specs. For a few 100 more you could hacmve had 16GB + beter CPU

here's some review that looped cinebench r15 multi and there was not much fluctuations, so likely almost always at max cpu turbo and no thermal limits of the chassis where reached:

>Besides the benefit from couple extra mhz (and a bit extra cache) is negligible unless you're encoding 4K movies all the time, in which case a 13" laptop is a weird ass choice.
agreed, dual-core is an odd choice if you need cpu power
>>
>>60009661
Well, it's a benchmark, so not the most realistic workload given it purely focuses on CPU performance. Also the result seems to be pretty much identical to ThinkPad P40 Yoga with a i7 6600U in multi (aka. pretty much same i7 Applel uses)
>>
>>60009620
how's it bullshit?
should they all be named i7 because they have turbo boost and hyperthreading?

the real retardness is expecting desktop chips and mobile to be the same.
>>
>>60009798
>should they all be named i7 because they have turbo boost and hyperthreading?
That would actually make some sense. Or limit i7 brand to real quad cores for mobile chips. There is a clear step from i3 to i5, the one from i5 to i7 is a bit cache and mhz that you won't notice without bench marking.
>>
>>60007658
>he can't afford shipping
>>
>>60009790
>not the most realistic workload given it purely focuses on CPU performance.
not like compiling or encoding in software does use anything but your cpu.
can't think of that many common workloads where you would need peak performance for long.

>pretty much identical to ThinkPad P40 Yoga with a i7 6600U
but that's the base mbp with an i5-6360U
>>
>>60009946
A lot of encoding software and Adobes CC stuff uses GPU acceleration. Though CC rarely got any constant workloads to be fair.

>can't think of that many common workloads where you would need peak performance for long.
That's generally true, though with encoding and compiling it obviously very task sensitive.

>but that's the base mbp with an i5-6360U
I know, I know. But at least in multicore it does have the same result as i7 6600U, so the extra 200mhz are clearly not that noticeable. (i5s from other Windows laptop got same score too, so it's not just Windows being shit)

I don't get it. My rMBP has a 2.6GHz processor, 8GB of ram, a 256GB PCIe SSD and a full array of ports and I bought it for $1400 at Best Buy two years ago. That's a full $400 more expensive

Me, no. The latest Macbooks are so underwhelming compared to the previous models. Even Apple admitted it and used it as a reason to reboot the Mac Pro.

So if you're using it to browse the net, good for you. If you're planning to do work on it, I'm sorry for your loss.
