Looking to switch browsers. What's your favorite browser and what extensions do you run?
>>
I usuale use Chrome and sometimes Firefox; the extensions are the same; ublock origin for the ads; one for youtube; one for Gmail and Imagus for reddit, imgur, 4chan etc...

A lot of people are happy with Vivaldi; never used it before but tomorrow I'll give it a try

For example, it has been confirmed that chromium pings google's DNS servers, so even if you don't use any google services or their DNS for that matter google will still know when you start your browser and possible how long you use it.

Once the health report is disabled under advanced>data choices and you aren't signed in it does not send any data to official mozilla servers. Feel free to test it with wireshark or similar network-output related tools.

>>
>>60010189
Did you bother checking Firefox options? Its fucking right there.

And it's dishonest. "Disabling it" in the menu doesn't actually stop telemetry data from being collected, it just stops it from being sent to the Internet. It is still saved inside your firefox profile folder. If by any chance you enable it again (by your will or by a missclick), the accumulated data is sent to Mozilla.

By the way, the 53.0 upgrade pulled a Windows 10 and re-enabled Safe Browsing and crash reports by itself here. There really is no good browser today.

Basically there's a small group of devs that makes free, closed source software for about 500 users. Or at least made. If they're going to restrict future releases to core members, that number goes down to 15 for the time being.

Personally I don't get it, it's not like the software they make is revolutionary or anything.

It's nice and I would probably use lw instead of chromium if they decided to release the full version. The image editor (no name yet) is already enough for me to not have to use photoshop for my daily use, even though it doesn't have a tenth of the features.

In my opinion, if it was open sourced under GPL or something it would be 10 times better.

Definine "quality"
Look at the latest benchmarks, and tell me chrome is "better"
Firefox is the same or better at most js and rendering, but lacks chromes (((ui refinements))) that use the psychology of human vision to make an interface that "feels" faster.
Worst of all, chrome is bloated. It has a million and one unnecessary features (e.g Chromecast) that bog it down and inflate the size of the binary as well as increasing the attack surface.
Multiprocess is "secure" is a shit meme. It solves a problem that chrome creates in the first place with its useless bloat, and makes it even worse. I have never had a tab become unresponsive in Firefox, but it is fucking routine in chrome.
Open up pornhub, leave it open for ~10 minutes, and it crashes 100% of the time.
Even if Firefox were to crash, I can restore 150+ tabs in under 15 seconds from cache, where in chrome I would have to wait minutes for every single tab to reload.
I loathe chromes fucking impecilic Fischer price toy ui, and the shitty flat material redesign, I hate its fucking retarded skeuomorphic trapezoid folder tabs, and the way it shrinks the tabs to nothingness if I have more than 10 open.
But the worst crime of all is how jewgle keeps doing its NIH forks of webshit and other open source projects, and the way it keeps relicensing its uninstallable shitware on android to make it unworkable without google apps. This is the definition of EEE. But everyone keeps deepthoating google and its fat stacks of cash, where people shat on canonical endlessly for minor of fences of the same things. fuck off
