this, and its a free market just make ur own phone company and compete with them so they lower the prices then buying from them. Its rather really simple

I have a 256gb iPhone 7+ with unlimited calls + texts and 20gb of data in the UK for less money than your 1gb plan

What?
>>
>>60005895
>and like taking it up the ass from your government.

Ironically, we only got cap-less internet options, leased lines and the third party competition in Ontario thanks to government regulations that were added.
>>
That's expensive I paid 3 euros per month in France for 50 gigs unlimited plan
>>
>>60005881

Because the CRTC didn't do their job and end the cell band ownership monopoly.

So Rogers and Bell own pretty much every usable frequency of the LTE bands and no one else can really do anything to operate cellular plans in Ontario unless they lease the rights to use the bands from Rogers/Bell and therefore have to accept their pricing.
>>
>>60006181
>50 gigs unlimited
>>
We literally ban outside competition because the CRTC is stacked with ex-Bell/Rogers officials still taking their pensions from their old jobs. That is why, it's a borderline monopoly.
>>
>>60005881

Oh man, 6 months free Spotify premium, that sweetens a fucking $400 60GB package!
>>
Tmobile - 3 lines - all unlimited - $100

Ye Tmobile coverage isn't that of Verizon but completely meets my needs.

It's 50 Gigs at full speed, and it's then on limited connection.
You won't be able to look at videos or download stuff, but you'll still be able to send messages and stuff

because people want their 'free' phones

Also there is no real competition, every major player has their own little piece of the pie and no one wants to rocky the very profitable boat

pic related its my plan in Ontario

Explain this!
>>
>>60005881
Internet is just as bad. $80/month for 25mbs, and you still have data caps
>>
>>60006443
>additional data $5/100 MB
>it would cost $110 to ship a 250GB SSD to your destination and then throw it away
>>It would cost $12,500 to send it with your cellphone instead
>>
>>60005881
This is why socialism will never work.
>>
Bell mobility.
75$/month
7gb data
0$ Google Pixel

Videotron Home Internet
65$/month
30mbps DL
10mbps Up
400gb Monthly

Send help!

Inb4 use the same service.
Bell offered me 6$ rebate for adding another service. Will probably switch soon . Also VDT doesn't support Pixel Baseband.
>>
>>60006586

Because of a problem that came from the free market?
>>
>>60006586
>socialism
I don't think that means what you think it means.
>>

>We literally ban outside competition because the CRTC is stacked with ex-Bell/Rogers officials still taking their pensions from their old jobs. That is why, it's a borderline monopoly.

Is that why the CRTC literally set aside spectrum for smaller players during the last 2 spectrum auctions ?
The CRTC has to juggle protecting Canadian companies with balancing competition.
I know during the last round of spectrum auction there were rumors that the gov was courting verizon (or was it sprint) into entering the market.

Forgetting completely that wireless companies cannot be majority foriegn owned and lets say sprint or verizon were allowed to bid.
The bids were in the hundreds of millions/billions of dollars, not even a single tower up and you just had to pony up this money.
Then add in the cost of the towers , and maybe a potential price war with the incumbents.
All this for a country with a population of 35m ?

Is it really any wonder why hardly any company on the outside wants to get into the canadian market ? HUGE up front costs and an uphill battle to gain market share and make money.
>>
>>60006548
>shipping a cheap 3TB HDD costs $70
>transferring the same over mobile internet would cost $150,000
>it costs the cellphone provider pretty much nothing in comparison
>temporary cellphone internet is 214,000% more expensive than permanent storage
???

>Have the 2GB share everything plan

>Randomly became $100 one day

I had to change to a lower paying job so I could still go to school but it would cost me $80 to downgrade to the $90 plan so I don't know what the fuck I'm going to do.
Getting this cell phone was a fucking mistake. I should have just used Text+ or Whatsapp like an immigrant.

You people are not shopping around,
You go to 2 places ( Bell and Rogers ) and think that is all there is to be offered.

Do you ever bother calling retentions asking for a better deal ?

If you are not willing to put in the leg work don't bitch about the high prices.

pic related, zoomer wireless = rogers

Jesus Christ. I get 5gb LTE and unlimited talk and text for 52USD a month.

It depends heavily on where you live. Not everyone has the options that you do. I was able to get an alternative ISP, but there are aren't any alternative wireless carriers available.
>>
CRTC Jews
>>
>>60006620
for videotron just tell them that you arent satisfied with the service and that you will switch if they dont lower your prices then go to a small isp.
>>
>>60007248
>It depends heavily on where you live.

You mean like the 13m people that live in Ontario that don't bother trying to get a better price ?

The koodo plan (8 gigs for $56) was pretty much available through loopholes for anyone that had koodo service in their area
>>
>>60007439
I don't live in Ontario and Koodo doesn't operate here.
>>
>>60006586
Cell phone providers are private corporations in Canada. When the government intervenes, we get better and cheaper service.
>>
>>60007574
yes it does, stop being a troll.
>>
>>60007641
No, you don't. You're fucking retarded.

That's useless.
I pay approx ~20 European doubloons for unlimited 4G data, messages and calls + a new Android phone and I live in a shitty Balkan banana state. I can stream HD midget tentacle hentai all day every day for a month.

Wew. I thought Aus was cucked
$40 a month w/ Telstra
And I get 7GB with unlimited calls and texy
>>
>>60005881
Fuck and I thought I had it bad at $56 a month (with 6 other people) on Verizons new unlimited plan, and I constantly use over 30gb a month while a friend easily goes over 100gb
>>
>>60005881
Because the people didn't say no when presented with a bad deal.
>>
I was using Mobilicity, then Rogers bought them and chatr (owned by Rogers) absorbed it so now I'm on chatr.

Talk = Great
Data = Switches between HSPA, HSPA+, 3G, 2G, and EDGE. If you use data a lot, don't get chatr. 6 gig limit
Text = Great

All for about 30 CAD a month.
>>
Feels good living in the land of the free. Enjoy your socialism dog fuckers.
>>
>>60010845
Also, I'm in Ontario. My internet is Rogers Ignite 100u, and my TV is just IPTV from a independent company.

Socialism is a big scary word americans struggle to understand.

>>
>>60010911
Yeah. Its also a very shit ideology.
>>
I got an S7 on a plan that gives me 4 gb data, unlimited talk/text. 65 for the plan + 25 for the phone = 90 plus tax (100 up front.) Virgin mobile in Calgary. I just moved to the city from a small town in BC and was worried about having a reliable phone and keeping in touch with family.

I should of gotten a motorola or chink shit and went with freedom and saved a lot of money.
>>
>>60011073
True, but most americans don't even know what socialism even is to begin with. All that hamburger consumption has clogged their arteries denying much needed blood to the critical thinking portions of their brain.

Kentuckebro here.
I pay $25 a month for 1 GB data, 500 messages, and 200 minutes.

Home internet is $70-75 (don't have a bill near me atm) a month for 200kbps down and 20 kbps up. No data cap.

I can't get any better because of a local monopoly.
>>
>>60006140
Trudeau
>>
Because you have virtually no competition. Rogers and Bell are the two major telecom companies, everyone else pretty much just leases the rights to use their network.

And the CRTC, which is "supposed" to be on the side of the consumer, keeps it that way. Best thing they could do for the consumer is lift the border restriction. Let US telecoms move into Canada, leverage their 10x customer base into cheaper plans for Canadians. Of course they will never do that because muh Canadian companies.

Try again, leaf. Good thing I can legally troll feminists here by telling them they deserve rape without going to jail.
>>
>>60011482
I live in nowhereville and can get 768Kb/s DSL with a 1 TB cap lol (impossible to download a TB at that speed going the whole month) for $30 or 15Mbit/s cable with a 250GB cap then throttled for ~$50.

I still pay out the ass for cellular service. AT&T because coverage here is shit/non-existent with any other provider. 2 mobile line/2GB+1 GB rollover data/unlimited voice and text for $100

But, I have a girlfriend or I would likely have something similar to your cell plan. Here I thought I was getting fucked.
>>
>>60011295
Yeah I was watching an American movie and the Americans were taking and one said "such and such is a Socialist" and they all looked at him in pure disgust like its worse than Communism. As soon as they see it they think of Marxist Socialism.
Which is why people go hurr durr Hitler was a nationalist socialist that automatically means he wants the wealthy to give to the needy.

American hamburgers suck as well.
