I'm using a 5820K 4K build as my primary station. But I have this one in my bed. I can't wait to get that IPS screen it will be a very comfy Stargate station.

I'll probably switch it to a H61 i5 build when I get one really cheap. I hope Ryzen helps to dump the price. If quadcores get worthless I may get one for 25 instead of the current 50 €.

when my rx 460 sells ill pick up a 775 mobo, cooler and psu and build a new shitbox
might go for a core2quad if i can get over 70$
if i had ddr3 lying around id get an athlon 5350 machine since the cost of each part would probably be around the same, 30$ mobo, 30$ cpu and that comes with a cooler

The final result should be this Win 7 Ult for hardware dependant software I have whose drivers do not work on 10, Windows 10 Pro itself for gaming mostly, then in a small partition, Ubuntu (I'm borderline normie, this is just for the bootloader and some unix apps)

Wanted the maximum stock clock on my m-itx build since I never OC'ed in my life and between the k and non-k variants it was half a Ghz difference for the price of 200mhz extra. Used mostly with VMs and audio editing software when not multitasking in game development (Unity/3DS/SubsPainter2)

I wanted an m-itx build considering how you can build a general purpose portable desktop with plenty of power nowadays. Despite that I went with the basic one because poortugal likes to rape the consumers with 23% sales tax and could only afford that the moment I bought it.

I could've kept going the Ati/AMD path here, but the CUDA shown it's usefulness in my laptop's 740m, so I had to get the 1060 6GB (Strix model in case you're wondering)

I cannibalized one of my dad's SSD's (Corsair), and later he managed to get me a 250gb Transcend for programs. The two HDDs could've been replaced by now, but due to the 4 sata connections and only 2 3.5" HDD bays, I'm aiming higher than 1 or 2 TB by looking forward to a pair of 4tb WD drives. One or both SSDs will eventually be replaced with 500gb ones

The Carbide 380t lacks optical drive bays and I don't feel like plugging in a portable dvd reader to read my physical games, so I'm ripping the games on my laptop then they will be mounted on the DT virtual drive

I mean, yeah, it's not too shabby. It was only a mid-tier $700 laptop when I bought it, and it can play older games with decent framerates, but it struggles with anything made since then. I guess I'm used to playing games at ~15 FPS, but still. As you can see, the CPU always runs hot and throttles itself as such, even with a laptop cooler.

Hopefully I'll get my first desktop at the end of this year, but then, I've been hoping that for a few years now, with no such luck.Sux.
