What's the modern analog of the T420, /g/?

I mean a laptop with the same build-quality but using up-to-date hardware?

The T420. In what planet is a 2nd gen Core CPU outdated? I'm writing this on a Core2Duo, ffs.

A MacBook with a unibody construction. Nobody else manufactures with the tolerances Apple does. The only way to get a proper solid machine is with a unibody design. Rollcages and all feel sturdy as well but objectively speaking, the less individual parts you have in a machine the more solid it will be. Also sometimes its hit and miss with the panels ON TOP of the roll cage, the keyboards etc. I have a T61 and its probably the most solid machine I've owned apart from a MBP. The newer 2016 models also have MIM hinges unlike the old black plastic ones.

>In what planet is a 2nd gen Core CPU outdated?

In a world where people do work which pays their bills in 2017. Are you really that deluded? You think everyone else is running Arch on a cuo2duo ThinkPad doing nothing more than ricing and posting on 4chan?

>>59990624
but macbooks are ugly as fuck

Too bad they screen comes into contact with the keyboard when it's closed, resulting in "staingate"
Too bad the screen reflects more light than a typical laptop screen resulting in unnecessary glare.

I bought my parents a Dell Vostro 15 laptop a month or two ago. Has an 15' 1080p matt screen, i5 7200u, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, 256GB SSD, Onboard graphics. For the dirt cheap price I was paying for it, I wasn't expecting to get backlit keyboard, fingerprint scanner(useful?) And a decent build quality.

>>59990624
>aluminium block laptop
Who wants razor sharp, cold metal under their hands?
>>
>>59990650

>staingate

Never heard this before, but after 5 seconds of Googling its not even caused by what you said, which is rally dumb of you. It seems to be a anti-reflective coating which is just wasting away and disintegrating on the older Macs. They replaced them all for free.

Speaking of anti-relfection, we both know you've never seen let alone used a 2016 MBP. Its the most anti-reflective, accuratly vibrant panel they've made and it pushes out 500 nits of brightness, basically killing glare. You don't think matte displays get glare?
>>
>>59990704

Its not 'razor sharp' you clueless twat, but I do like metal. Enjoy your palm rest replacements every 6 months if you use your laptop for more than 20 minutes a day.

you're right, some people pay full price for brand new celeron/pentium/atom laptops with that don't come close to the speed of a sandy core m from 2011

The i5-6300U in the Thinkpad T460 benchmarks as a whopping 7% to 15% faster than the i5-2540M in the Thinkpad T420
>>
>>59993199

I wish I had one of those high end quad-core i7s in the W530, that 55w 3940 XM hhhnnnnggggggg. It'll spank anything Intel puts in a non-gaming laptop for the next decade.
>>
>>59990535
Do you even english?
"analog" means equivalent in this context, retard
>>
>>59990641
most of those hard working people you're trying to posture yourself as one of are exactly the kind who wouldn't consider such a chip outdated as long as it does what they need to do because they don't spend their hard-earned money frivolously on useless shit because some kike told them it would make them more hip

kill yourself sheep
>>
>>59993199
"faster" based on what, clock speed? Also

>implying speed is the only measure of a CPU

I don't think pre-Haswell even has all of the modern virtualization stuff, which is kind of fucking important.
>>
>>59989997
lol up to date hardware = botnet. No point then.
>>
>>59993613
then you would spell it analogue, retard
>>
>>59994273
what modern virtualization stuff?

Not based on clock speed at all, based on benchmark performance. Five years and hundreds of dollars in cost difference and this is what you get.
>>
>>59994369
dude WHAT
>>
>>59994248
>i'm totally not a poor piece of shit guys i swear i just manage my money very intelligently!! anyone that uses money to buy things they want is stupid! i'm too intelligent to fall for the kike's traps hehe everyone is SUCH a sheep XD
I'd tell you to kill yourself but let's face it you're probably too stupid to even do that.
>>
>>59994369
>>59995082
They're both the same word fucking retards
>>
>>59995104
>I want a laptop that performs exactly the same as one from six years ago unless we're talking about gaming but since we're adults why are we talking about gaming
>>
>>59994273
>I don't think pre-Haswell even has all of the modern virtualization stuff, which is kind of fucking important.
Can you name the """"modern virtualization stuff""" sandy doesn't have? Oh yeah, you don't even use any "fucking important" virtualization features.
